“Wonderfully friendly and fun”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

My family and I went to the M Diamond Ranch for an evening ride and cowboy cookout around Christmas. The ranch is actually fairly close to Sedona but feels a million miles from anything, which is nice. We took a trailride across the property and then were ferried up to the cookout side by a pair of draft horses with Santa hats! The steak dinner was tasty, and we watched the sun go down while one of the local musical acts played his guitar and sang country songs for us. I am from Texas and have visited similar operations there, but this is the best I've ever experienced. Our thanks to the owners for a great time.

Thank you for those great compliments. The M Diamond is, indeed, a 100-year-old 45,000 acre ranch where cattle are actually raised, rather than an entertainment venue. And that means we are not located in town, but as you mention, we are really not far away and guests enjoy our wide open spaces and dark starry skies. I did take some grief from the wranglers about the Santa hats for our Percheron draft horse team, so I'm happy you noticed them!!

“Peaceful Morning Ride”
Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

We thoroughly enjoyed our two hour ride through the Coconino National Forest! We learned a lot about the area from our guide, Dan, and the horses were beautiful. It was the perfect way to start out the day to feel like a true cowgirl of the West:) We saw some deer too! We would highly recommend this opportunity to visitors!! We will be back again for sure:)

We're so happy you enjoyed your 2 hour ride with Dan and got to see some deer. Over the years, like other ranchers, we have done a fair amount of range restoration of native grasses and water improvements. Those efforts benefit both our livestock and wildlife.

““Don't Miss the Cowboy Dinner!””
Reviewed December 30, 2013

My family of 4 loved everything about the M Diamond Ranch. The views at 4400 ft are incredible! But the best part of all was the cowboy steak dinner featuring live entertainment from local country/western legend Alvie Self. This is a family run operation with 3 generations on site; they all worked tirelessly to make us feel at home with them. There are lots of staff; no details were overlooked.

“WE LOVED M DIAMOND”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

I really can't even begin to tell you how much we loved our time at M Diamond Ranch. We visited for the horse ride and dinner Wednesday before Thanksgiving. We arrived early and were met by Gordon who would be our host for the evening. He was fantastic - spent some time talking with us about the ranch, what his job is and all of the cool things he gets to do.

We were matched up with some really sweet horses and enjoyed the beautiful trail ride at the end of the day. The scenery was breathtaking. The horses did great with the adults and the kids (14, 12, 9) none of us had ever been on a horse before. The cowboys that rode with us were so much fun - watching over us yet still joking and enjoying the ride. They were happy to take pictures and answer any questions we had!

Next a quick wagon ride up to the picnic site - it was a really cold evening but we all stood by the heaters and listened to Alvie - his music set a great backdrop for the beautiful sunset we got to see! Kids hung out by the fire before dinner and then chowed on the amazing cowboy steaks - all the food was delicious. Especially the peach cobbler -we need that recipe!

After dinner Gordon taught the kids to lasso - they ending up running around roping each other all over the place. It was a beautiful family evening and I feel like a wonderful ranch experience. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Thanks for leaving our 300th review on Trip Advisor! As a small volume business, we appreciate everyone who leaves us a review. Sounds like we need to get Gordon a new hat for Christmas...in a larger size!

“Not your typical trail ride!”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

We arrived for our evening ride and Cowboy Cookout expecting the usual single file trail ride and so-so food and left blown away by how GREAT everything was from start to finish. Yes, the horses walked single file, but the cowboys (real, working cowboys!) rode up and down the line cracking jokes, making conversation, and timing the ride to finish with the sunset. Dinner took place in a covered pavilion a short wagon ride away. Lanterns, a bonfire, and cowboy tunes by Alfie Self gave us a glimpse of what it might have been like on the trail long ago. And the food...OMG...we had the best t-bones EVER with all the fixings...beans, corn on the cob, slaw, garlic bread, grilled peppers, peach cobbler and ice cream (thanks, Wes!) To top off the evening, the ranch owners joined us to share the history of the ranch. This trip is a definite must when anywhere near Sedona. If you don't want to ride, you can just opt for the evening meal and entertainment. Worth every penny!

As a 100 year old working cattle ranch, we strive to provide an authentic experience. We are certainly not fancy or touristy, and are sometimes a little dusty, but we do hope to provide a some history, some fun, and a little awareness about modern ranching. Thanks for your review; hope to see you again.
