We were collected from our accommodation in Flagstaff and headed out to the Grand Canyon.

Our guide Richard was very knowledgable and gave a great overview and description of how the canyon was formed. It was all about baking one gigantic cake. This all made sense once we arrived.

It must be said millions of times but it is amazing on that first view. No books can do it justice.

We went to a number of different spots for unhurried views. Richard answered thousands of questions during the day. Some of them repetitive but always with grace.
Lunch was supplied. We went to a cafeteria and were allowed free range really.

Then we went to the Cameron Trading Post on the way home.

All in all a great day

Al our tour guide was phenomenal. He knew many great sites, facts, and locations to stop by. He was smart, mystical, and made the tour fabulous. We saw many areas in Sedona that were off the beaten path. I will use this company again.

This is a truly amazing experience, filled with tons of insight into the Southwest American Indian history and experience. The one hour walking tour of the Hopi village of Walpi was eye opening. The native food at the restaurant is very good, different from what most Americans are used to. Make sure you take the tour with Brian - he is a font of information.

A few warnings:
1) This is not a cutesy tourist tour, this is like going on a documentary.
2) This is a long tour (11 hours door-to-door from Sedona)
3) Do not think children under 12 or so would find this interesting (We only had adults on our trip)
4) No photography allowed in the Hopi villages

We took a 2 hour tour with Tom as our guide to the Evers cabin where Wild Bill was found murdered... or was he? The history lesson and getting to see and hear about the cabin and the happenings therein was very interesting!

It was exciting to get off the beaten path and surprising that we could travel the rough terrain without "bottoming out" the jeep! Also it was nice to have someone to keep us safe (from rattlesnake areas -and "remember to drink plenty of water!"). The Sedona area is breathtakingly beautiful and it is something else to get up close and hear the names of the formations.

The most interesting of the things we learned from Mr. Twain: the anatomy of the Arizona Cypress tree. Probably the coolest tree I have ever heard of!! If you would like to know how this tree survives a lighting strike, head for Sedona and go on a Redstone tour!

Thank Lori P
