“Get off of the road”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

Certainly the Byway is spectacular but if you have the time and the inclination, get off of the road. Of the several hikes that we have taken along the Red Rock Scenic Byway, the Yavapi Vista Trail was by far the stand out. We missed it the first time through because it is only accessible on the south bound side. The views were stunning and we only had to share the trail with a very few others. As much as I do not want to see it spoiled, it is one hike not to miss.

“Scenic Byway”
Reviewed March 12, 2014

Had to be careful while driving. The views are stunning coming into or out of Sedona. Be careful on the Roundabouts coming into town. I don't believe visitors understand how they work.

“Take turns driving.”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

You need to keep an eye on the road but you want to look up and around constantly. They should have more areas to pull over. The trailheads parking $5/day or $15/week are usually full.

“must do when in Scottsdale”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Take the drive up to Sedona while you're in Scottsdale to get a breathtaking view of the Red Rocks in Sedona. The drive is only 2 1/2 hours. There's quite a number of scenic outlook to take pictures and don't forget to drive up to the airport to get a panoramic view. If you plan to hike any of the trails, you need to stop in at the park ranger's office to purchase a $5 permit. The drive up is worth the visit.
