Tough to get to, but worth it! A fascinating trip to a lost tribe. Bring your camera and a zoom lens for best photos. Bring your patience to ponder the site. I truly enjoyed it. Wear good sturdy shoes, and consider renting a beach buggy in town. Those 4 WD vehicles will make it a fun ride in. Lots of ruts and rocks in the road, but hey, ITS An Adventure right?

Nice ruins, but the pink jeeps are annoying. Seems they somewhat allready own the site. Loud and noisy bunch. Even the Park Ranger tells you to stay away from their tours as they are private. I understand that somehow there has to be somebody funding the maintenance of the site, but either sell it to these people or do not make them somebody with priority rights on a national heritage site! Even on the roads... these pink guys do not know how to behave. Keep pushing behind you when you keep speed limits, never greet, even if you give way on a narrow part of the road.

We went on a tour with Pink Jeep. If you travel without a guide, you will need a jeep as well. The roads are bumpy and may very well tear up your vehicle. The Honanki Ruins are a must-see. This place held 70 rooms at one time. There are drawings on the rock. There is also graffiti from early settlers. It was interesting to see where ancient civilizations used to live, hunt, and forage. The scenes surrounding the Ruins are breathtaking. I highly recommend a visit to Honanki Ruins.

The visit to the ruins was great. Had a hard time getting there because tripadvisor has a bad address. If you go down 89a to forest rd 525 and take the dirt road you will get there eventually. The road is rough but my pickup managed it fine.
