Owner description: The Sedona Heritage Museum presents the history of the Sedona area, from post-Civil War days to the present. Located in Jordan Historical Park, the Museum is composed of 3 historic landmark buildings, a tent house replica, and a restored movie set building; exhibits of pioneer mementos, farm equipment, historic photos, and more can be found throughout the buildings and along the pathways of the park. Besides an encounter with history, it's a great place for a picnic lunch. And the beauty of Sedona's red rocks makes it a perfect location for a wedding ceremony.

Uptown Sedona is the area we avoid except when desperate for chaskas to bring home to friends. The museum is an exception, it is full of history and it is a charming preservation of one of the original homesteads.it is not overrun by tourists buying T shirts , and though they have a small gift shop.it is tasteful.worth a visit.

Lynn and I and friends had time to spare between attractions on our recent Sedona trip. We decided to learn a bit about the tourism birth of this terrific area so we stopped at the Sedona Heritage Museum. The museum is all part of a farm that once housed the Jordan Apple Orchard. You can visit three of the original buildings including the packinghouse. There are many documents and photos to be seen as well as farm implements and vehicles including one of Sedona's 1st fire trucks. The docents are excellent. I missed a sign and was scolded for taking photos in the museum. No photos are permitted except in the packinghouse and barn. This is a good historical experience.

Very good interesting museum of local history. Main house and out buildings were part of historic apple orchard. Rooms show history of Jordan family who lived here and others in Sedona. One room is on making movies in Sedona. Entrance fee isn $5, but they are part of the North American Reciprocal Museums (NARM) so membership in one of those museums allows for free admission. A nice place to spend a few hours. Closing time is.3 PM.

We always try to check out the local or national history museum when visiting an area; it gives a real sense of heritage, and helps put things into perspective: who you were determines who you've become. The Sedona heritage museum is a great little tour just minutes from old town Sedona. It is an original, registered pioneer structure, with historically interesting and accurate additions, allowing you to experience100 years of local history. And it is here where you discover how Sedona came to be named. Nice little gift shop. If you are a fan of western movies there is an impressive space dedicated especially to this genre - you realize just how many movies were filmed in the area...time much better spent here than the "western movie museum" downtown. No crowds, no crystals, no come-ons. Just...life as it was.

A beautifully presented museum in an exquisite part of the world - Sedona! It had interesting material for 3 to 93! The dress ups were gorgeous for the children and kept them entertained for ages. Great self guided tour! And lovely gift shop.
