“Sedona Rouge worth a visit!”
Reviewed July 4, 2007

Hotel was excellent. Beds amazing - you feel like you are sleeping in a cloud, fabulous! Pool area very peaceful. Restaurant excellent. Nice location, just a short distance from the more crowded Sedona downtown area.

My husband and I stayed at the Sedona Rouge for three nights in June 2007. The hotel is located in West Sedona, just a few minutes drive from uptown (the main tourist area). The room was nicely decorated, average size, and clean. We were on the second floor but I read that rooms on the third floor have vaulted ceilings and seem larger. I think most of the rooms faced the attractive courtyard with a fountain, etc. Unfortunately, we were too busy to enjoy the pool or spa but we did enjoy a view of the red rocks from our room balcony.

The staff was helpful by offering restaurant recommendations, printing our boarding passes, etc. We enjoyed Picazzo's down the street, which has an extensive menu of gourmet pizzas.

My wife & I stayed at the Sedona Rouge for 4 nights during a weekend stay in Sedona. We used it as a base to see Sedona itself as well as a day trip to the Grand Canyon. The drive is long, at a bit over 2 hours each way, but the landscape along the way was very scenic. And the Grand Canyon was definitely worth it! Sure, it's crawling with tourist, but with good reason; it was one of the most sublime places I have been to.

The Hotel is well located, very close to all parts of Sedona without being in the middle of the (somwhat tacky) main tourist haunts. Our aim was to see the area's natural scenery through drives & hikes, all of which were easily accessible from the Rouge.

We enjoyed our room which was quite roomy and well equiped, while the bathroom was very modern, clean and very well stocked. The restaurant at the Hotel was quite good and we ended up eating there 3 out of 4 nights, very convenient especially after some wonderful days of hiking.

Overall I'd say the Sedona Rouge is no real bargain, but our sense was that Sedona is not where you should go on a tight budget. At least here I felt we got our money's worth.

My husband and I stayed here over the Memorial Day Weekend and loved this small, beautiful hotel. Our room, #333, looked out over the garden and the red rocks. We were presented with a platter of fresh fruit shortly after check-in and a gift certificate for my birthday! We found the entire staff to be pleasant, efficient, and very helpful with any questions we had regarding restaurants, hiking, and directions. We had conversations with several folks in the front office and they couldn't have been nicer. There is a gas fire pit and bar on the third floor level above the pool area and on 2 evenings they had live music until 8pm. The Safeway is across a side street and was so convenient for Starbucks coffee, wine, cheese, snacks, freshly prepared food, flowers etc. We went everyday! We ate dinner at Reds our first night and would have returned but there were too many other places we wanted to try. Since we did not partake of the spa services, I can not comment on that feature. The homes on the hill above the hotel blend in with the surroundings and are very lovely, well kept properties. We drove up the street to check out "our neighborhood" and thought it would be a great place to live. However, if you prefer a resort atmosphere in the middle of no where then Enchantment is for you! We hiked the Boynton Canyon Trail to "see" the place but never made it back for lunch or dinner as planned. Thanks to Trip Advisor and the experts on the forum for helping me plan this trip. I was very well informed on where to stay and what to do before leaving home!

We recently returned back from Sedona from May 26 thru June l. We stayed at the Sedona Rouge and found it to be a wonderful hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were great as well as the beds were so comfortable. The rooms were very clean, as well as the bathrooms. Loved the shower. I cant say enough good about this hotel. as seeing the other hotels there, I think this is a good choice. Location is great, as well as everything else. Don't hesitate to stay here.

We stayed for two nights and, overall, I rate it only as "OK".

The room assigned was very dark and next to a large ice-maker. It was like being seated next to the kitchen in a good restuarant.

The desk person was not very pleasant when we asked for a different room. "Well, you are using a gift certificate", did not go down with me too well.

Our new room was fine with a nice patio and great beds. The bathrooms are a bit strange; it's easy to push your toileteries over the edge of the countertop and the shower is "different".

The location is not what we expected being in a strip-mall area. but it is very convenient.

The Sezhuan restuarant down the street is very good and the Bakery in the Marriott mall a little closer to town has great muffins.

We took the Pink Jeep "Gulch" tour which was quite an experience - they really mean it when they say it is not for anyone with a bad back.

Our "neutral/average" rating is probably due to the check-in experience; the daytime desk staff, by the way, were very pleasant.

When we checked in, we were a little disappointed in the location of the room they were putting us in. (front corner, first level, facing the parking lot). So, we asked if there was any possible way to get moved. We ended up getting a free upgrade to a suite with cathedral ceilings and gas fireplace! Couldn't use the fireplace because it put off a little too much heat, but the room was beyond nice! Wonderful bed and pillows, felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. Bathroom only had a shower, but I had read reviews about the water coming out into the floor so made sure we put the bath mat there, and never had a problem. Had a couples massage and that was very nice, but nothing fancy. Had a nice dinner at Reds. Service could be better, but food was pretty good. Would definitely stay here again, because I liked being away from the action of downtown.

  • Liked — the bed and pillows
  • Disliked — no fancy bathtub to match the modern shower
