I had the great pleasure of having dinner at Cucina Rustica while staying the weekend in Sedona, AZ. Besides the great food and service, the ambience was by far the best I've encountered in a long time. We were fortunate to have a table on the outside where several fireplaces and heat lamps were burning. It was quite an enjoyable evening. The menu had some great choices and I had a hard time choosing something. Their speciality martinii's were excellent as well. If your in the Sedona area, do yourself a favor and visit this resturant.

Had a business dinner here for 14 people last week. Service started out a little slow at first, given menus and water but then we were left with no sense of who was in charge of our group. We ordered a couple of bottles of wine. Non wine-drinkers were left with their water and not offered an alternative beverage.

Granted it is hard to serve a big group, but a restaurant shouldn't accept a reservation that is too big for them to serve well.

Service got better as the meal progressed but our server never kept us posted on what was going on. She just popped in and out randomly. She seemed inexperienced and not professional.

The food however, was very good. Buratta appetizer was a big hit. Calamari was prepared well. Everyone ordered something a little different and there was only praise for the taste of the various dishes. I had the chicken and sausage, aka Pollo Scarpariello. Chicken was good and the sausage was excellent, just the right amount of spiciness to offset the bird.

18% tip added to our party. I wanted to add an extra tip but was simply given the total bill with no place to stick on any extra, so I left it as presented.

On a return trip to Sedona with good friends, we again chose to dine at Cucina Rustica, one of our favorite restaurants in Sedona. We started each sharing a special appetizer plate (Buratta) which was a fresh buratta (mozzarella infused with cream) wrapped in prosciutto and drizzled with balsamic vinegar and olive oil plus halved very small tomatoes along with olive and pickle garnish. It was something like a “deconstructed caprese salad). It was utterly delicious and one of the best starters we have ever had! My wife had the Linguini Angelica (Fresh made linguine pasta with prawns in a light lemon, tomato, garlic and chardonnay sauce with arugula and chili flakes); our friends had the Aragosta Alla Vodka and Eggplant Melanzane; and I had their PIATTO LISETTA (Breast of chicken & jumbo prawns with artichoke hearts sautéed scampi style with lemon, garlic and white wine, served with orzo pilaf). All the entrees were scrumptious. Our friends split key lime pie while my wife and I shared a Cassata Siciliana. We split two bottles of Prunotto Barbera d'Alba. We dined on the patio on a clear Sedona evening. It was a wonderful dining experience (again).

Our guests from California wanted to take us out to dinner after a week here with us in Sedona. We suggested Cucina Rustica.

NEVER AGAIN!

Our disappointment centered on two areas: extremely rude service and only average food quality. Another case of overpromising and underdelivering.

The waitstaff is UNTRAINED in service in a fine dining establishment, rudely cutting into ongoing conversations, reaching over the table in front of other patrons to serve and retrieve dishes, and removing plates before all at the table have finished their meals.

The food quality is only AVERAGE. Somewhat tasty but presented sloppily and unappealingly.

These comments are generated by us after multiple visits with the same experience as described above.

We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious dinner a the Cucina Rustica followed by a Rock and Roll Review last night. The combination ticket for $55 was great purchased through the Rock and Roll Theatre. Our dinner included an appetizer, entree and desert and all were delicious. Our waiting staff was very courteous in contrast to some of the reviews. The outside seating was romantic and would definitely recommend this combination for a nice night in Sedona!
