“Great Show”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

The show was excellent. Martin Short and his band were awesome. They kept this show moving. The theatre itself had plenty of photos to look at. We will definately recommend this show to others.

“Best of the Best Marvin Short's Rock & Roll Show”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

A MUST SEE WHEN VISITING SEDONA. A fabulous show and we highly recommend seeing it. The performance is Non Stop High Energy Oldies Music by a very talented group of muscians led by Marvin Short. By far, Marvin Short entertains by singing, playing guitar, and probably the best Sax player in the music industry. Eric the piano player also very talented does a "Jerry Lee Lewis" rendition and was hard to believe it wasn't Jerry Lee Lewis himself. Another great performance was given by Suzie the vocalist who did a tribute to "Janice Joplin" and brought the House down with a standing ovation with the realistic tribute to her Idol. A Very Special THANKS to Mike Johnson for the tour of the sound & light control room and all the History of the memorabilia presented in the Lobby of the theater. We wish Mike all the best in his endeavor to create the # 1 attraction in Sedona .The way we see it; he is on his way to be very successful. This performance at the Encore Theater exceeds any other in both "Vegas" & Branson......that says a lot!!

“" MARVIN SHORT'S ROCK&ROLL DREAM "BEST KEPT SECRET ANYWHERE”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

WOW!!!! We were totally blown away by the amount of talent on one stage! Unbelievable that this show isn't headlining in Vegas. Marvin Short ...have to see him to believe how great he really is..singing, saxophone...WOW!, Guitar also. Suzie Shoemaker's talent will give you goose bumps..her rendition of Janis Joplin hits shows her vocal range is incredible. Eric Williams piano/ vocals..including Jerry Lee Lewis is so good and what a character! Very funny. The drummer/vocalist Joey Cruze? was very good, and the bass player "the scotchman" and the lead guitar were so talented. Never have we seen so much talent, energy and non-stop music/entertainment on one stage! Hope they come to Alberta..would certainly go! Dave & Marilyn

“Not what we had hoped for”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

First off, be aware that they are the #3 attraction in Sedona on TA for 2 reasons--they hand out flyers at the end asking folks to post on TA (so they get the popularity factor) and also because there is very little nightlife in Sedona!

The ticket price as noted in other reviews is very high ($35) for what you get--an old Imax now serving as a stage (weird--you look down on them) with an out of focus movie playing above the band. The headliner Marvin Short came here from Branson. He is a fabulous sax player. Pretty good on other instruments as well. He should seriously lose the bizarre hairdo as well as the eyerolls during the performance. They just diminish it. His talent stands on its own.

The rest of the ensemble is trying very hard but you would be pressed to call them professional, with the exception of Susie, the female singer. Her voice is great but the performance is a little off...glued on smile, all these hand gestures playing out songs--like one of the Temptations.

A review like this is hard to pull off without it becoming almost karaoke like. The gold standard is probably Smokey Joe's Café, and if you've ever seen that, you'll be really disappointed with this show. There is no theme--just jamming from one song to another, not even in some chronological order.

The show is long, more than 2 1/2 hours including an intermission. We give them credit for trying, and for adding an alternative to the Sedona entertainment scene, but with only 50 people or so at the show (evidently typical) we really wonder if they can make it here.

The cast was super pleasant, spoke with the audience during intermission and after the show, and the staff at the theater was friendly. Bathrooms are immaculate, rock and roll memorabilia in the lobby lots of fun, they even serve beer and wine. So not terrible, but expensive and in need of some refinement.
