We were extremely happy with our pick of The Red Agave Resort for our first visit to Sedona. We thought the location was perfect. Only about 15 minutes from the center of Sedona, it was a calm oasis where we could enjoy the quiet, beautiful scenery right from our front patio.

We had a studio room with a queen bed (fabulously comfortable), stove, refrigerator, microwave and flat screen TV. The bathroom sink was conveniently separated from the tub/toilet area. The room was spotless, the front desk women were helpful and friendly. The pool and hot tub a great plus. My husband and I especially enjoyed the evening campfire where we could talk with the other guests.

I am a travel agent and checked other hotels and resorts. After visiting Sedona, I realized that there were other places much more expensive, but when comparing location and view, none could beat the Red Agave. I think staying in the Oak Creek Canyon area gives you the best of both worlds. Good restaurants are nearby. I recommend the Thai restaurant in Oak Creek and Elote in Sedona for great Mexican food.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for value, location and relaxing. I highly agree with Stopstosmellroses (Hello from Michigan)

I was a little nervous about our decision to stay here because there weren't many reviews online and the vistor centers didn't know much about the place. Come to find out the ownership and name had changed about a year ago. It is about 15 minutes from downtown Sedona and is very close to Bell Rock (great hike). We found this location was convient to everything, including a grocery store a 5 minute drive down the road. A great pizza place and cafe are a short walk from the resort.

After spending 4 days in hotels from Las Vegas (Hilton) to the Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon Railway 3-day Vacation Package) the Red Agave Resort was a breath of fresh air - literally. We stayed in one of the chalets and my 3 kids (15, 11 and 9) immedately claimed the loft with one double bed and one single. The place was very clean and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable - the most comfortable I'd stayed in all week. One guest gave us some good advice, to hang a towel from the spiral staircase so we wouldn't walk into it.

The pool and 2 hot tubs were just a few steps from our sliding glass door and there are walking/hiking/biking trails just beyond the pool. Our chalet (and most I think) face a beautiful view of red rocks. So quiet and peaceful in the morning sitting on the patio with our coffee. There was plenty of room to spread out in the common garden area with green grass, fire pit and even a swinging chair that the kids loved, all looking out at the beautiful view.

At night we sat around the fire for s'mores and coversation with other guests. It's was a nice treat for the kids and we enjoyed hearing about what other guests had done or were planning to do in Sedona. The friendly and adorable young women that start the fire (and also work the front desk and seem to do a little of everything) stayed for a while and chatted, then left us to ourselves. It was very casual and the women definitely weren't "cruise directors" which was nice. We chatted with a semi-retired couple who seemed to enjoy the resort as much as we did. (fyi - she is a travel agent and knows how to pick 'em. If you're reading this..."hello Michigan!")

For us the Red Agave felt peaceful, cozy and friendly. The grounds were pretty and well maintained. I could go on and on. We loved the Red Agave Resort!

A perfect location if you are staying for biking/hiking. Bike & Bean was just around the corner and provided great service as well as maps/directions etc. The view from our chalet was totally stunning. In fact we all said that the view is what makes the place so special. The option of doing our own healthy cooking was a bonus as the place is equipped with a bbq. The kitchen in the chalet was small but serviceable. The only observation is that the unit is in need of some new pots and pans. The beds were to die for! After a day of biking and hiking and a soak in the hot tub those beds were a great way to end a wonderful day!

The Red Agave Resort is not fancy, but it was a great fit for our family vacation. The A-frame cabins offered plenty of room (children upstairs, parents with a separate bedroom downstairs, small living/kitchen area) and were clean and comfortable. It's not 4-star, but it was a good value and we would much rather be there than in a regular cramped hotel room. The grounds are nicely maintained and we felt comfortable letting the children roam. The adults enjoyed sipping coffee outside; the children loved roasting marshmallows over the fire pit in the evening. The view outside the cabin was lovely and the hiking trail is literally 100 feet from your front door. Also, the staff couldn't have been friendlier.

We liked a lot about Red Agave.
Highs:
People running the joint, biking, view, convenience, beds, vibe, firepit.
Lows:
Spiral staircase (watch your head!), TV in loft didn't work.

Note that we were there for the biking/hiking. Folks there for other activities would probably find this place less convenient.

Grounds are really nice, great exterior facilities. The A frame we stayed in was pretty cramped for 4 occupants. coffee was provided but ran out in 2 days and they did not have any more. coffee filters were the wrong size. they gave us about 1 ounce of dish soap. they gave us enough bath soap for about 3 days. no housekeeping services. you get your towels and you make them last. it is located in a great area, just south of the sedona city limits. views are great. would be a good fit for 2 or 3 people, but 4 is pushing it.

We stayed 3 nights in a chalet. Me and my hubby, 2 kids, and my mom (who has physical limitations). My hubby and I took the upstairs, along with our 6 year old w/ the addition of a rollaway. My mom and oldest daughter shared the downstairs room (my mom, who has a hard time getting comfortable, loved the matress -even looked at the lable to check what kind it was). We were also able to bring our dog. The room was just great. The pool was still too cold but we enjoyed the hot tub. The nightly firepit with marshmellows was second only to the starry sky and wonderful view of Bell Rock! We were able to grill out every night and hike every morning right off the property. We loved the resort, loved Sedona and the surrounding area. Never bored, always something to do, but always relaxing at the same time! exactly as pictured on their site!
