I was a little nervous about our decision to stay here because there weren't many reviews online and the vistor centers didn't know much about the place. Come to find out the ownership and name had changed about a year ago. It is about 15 minutes from downtown Sedona and is very close to Bell Rock (great hike). We found this location was convient to everything, including a grocery store a 5 minute drive down the road. A great pizza place and cafe are a short walk from the resort.
After spending 4 days in hotels from Las Vegas (Hilton) to the Grand Canyon (Grand Canyon Railway 3-day Vacation Package) the Red Agave Resort was a breath of fresh air - literally. We stayed in one of the chalets and my 3 kids (15, 11 and 9) immedately claimed the loft with one double bed and one single. The place was very clean and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable - the most comfortable I'd stayed in all week. One guest gave us some good advice, to hang a towel from the spiral staircase so we wouldn't walk into it.
The pool and 2 hot tubs were just a few steps from our sliding glass door and there are walking/hiking/biking trails just beyond the pool. Our chalet (and most I think) face a beautiful view of red rocks. So quiet and peaceful in the morning sitting on the patio with our coffee. There was plenty of room to spread out in the common garden area with green grass, fire pit and even a swinging chair that the kids loved, all looking out at the beautiful view.
At night we sat around the fire for s'mores and coversation with other guests. It's was a nice treat for the kids and we enjoyed hearing about what other guests had done or were planning to do in Sedona. The friendly and adorable young women that start the fire (and also work the front desk and seem to do a little of everything) stayed for a while and chatted, then left us to ourselves. It was very casual and the women definitely weren't "cruise directors" which was nice. We chatted with a semi-retired couple who seemed to enjoy the resort as much as we did. (fyi - she is a travel agent and knows how to pick 'em. If you're reading this..."hello Michigan!")
For us the Red Agave felt peaceful, cozy and friendly. The grounds were pretty and well maintained. I could go on and on. We loved the Red Agave Resort!
