My husband and I stayed here on a little weekend getaway. We were definitely underwhelmed. When we arrived, our check in process took literally 60-90 seconds. In most cases, that would be great. But in this case, we wanted to know more about the property and services offered. We were literally just handed two room keys and told to go to the left. We were told that there was a wine hour and coffee in the morning and that we could sign up for yoga. That's it. We were not given a map of the property or location nor were we told about the restaurant or pool or anything. It was the strangest interaction we've ever had with front desk staff.
The carpet where the wine hour (which also happens to be in front of the main restaurant) looks like someone was murdered on it. The stains are horrendous and looks like something you'd find in a dumpy motel. It was awful.
The pool and outdoor area looked nice (we did not use the pool so I cannot comment on that).
The room itself was decent in size. The A/C worked well. The bathroom was decent. However, they removed our bath mat out of the shower after the first night and my husband and I both ended up slipping a couple times the 2nd night because the floor was so dang slippery. Not sure why they took the bath mat out and didn't replace it. But they also only gave half the amount of towels as well on the 2nd night. Not sure about that either.
The beds are absolutely hard as a rock and you have to stack like 3 pillows on top of each other to equal one normal pillow. We requested more pillows and never received them.
We kept receiving random automated text messages from the front desk asking about stay and our satisfaction. I kept replying and never received any responses so obviously they are just automated texts with no one actually reading them.
We did eat at the restaurant and wouldn't recommend it. The only thing that was good was the braised osso buco which was a pork shank. The flavor was awesome. We ordered the tres leche cake for my husband's birthday and the presentation was so awful. We both looked at it and said the same thing...it looked like a dog or cat had just vomited on the plate. There was a ton of juices splashed all over the plate and then a tiny little pile of chunked up yellow and red fruit sitting in the middle of all the splashes. It also didn't taste very good so that receives a big thumbs down from us. However, our server was super knowledgeable and very friendly.
I would not recommend Amara.

Loved our stay at Amara. We each got two massages in our two night stay. Staff was very helpful - especially Teah who contacted us in advance to help us plan our visit and make reservations. She was very responsive, returning calls and accepting our indecisiveness about how to spend our time on this short visit. Only problem was we should have stayed two more nights!

IDK, you have have to search hard to find something to complain about here. I can't say enough good stuff about this place. This was our second visit and I and we look forward to the next. Super location, super helpful people, super restaurant. Just plain SUPER!

Hotel was exceptional. Staff was great. Facilities were clean and updated. I do appreciate the front desk reaching out well in advance of the stay and being responsive relative to questions and things to do etc...

Few days here with husband to relax after busy period of travelling vacation. Very nice indeed. On the expensive side but I think most places in Sedona are. Small problem with some very noisy children, swiftly dealt with by manager. Modern clean rooms. All the staff helpful and nice. Wine happy hour 5-6 each day. Good location. Steep hill but shuttle will take you up and down. Lovely dinner on our last night. Would return.
