A strenuous three mile each way trip with a lot of elevation gain for the distance. There are two lower peaks before you top out. The trail is clearly marked . We hike fast and it was three plus hours round trip.

We did not even know that this area existed but the long hike was worth it. There are some steep areas but doable. I did not notice any "scrambling" as other articles have mentioned. It is long about 2.5 miles one way and 5 hours R/T counting stops for photos/food. The views from above are amazing. As others have said about false plateaus are true...it just keeps going until you get to a "large summit" that circles....

This is absolutely worth doing. Probably one of the best hikes in Sedona. Varity of land scape, and amazing views. The hike is challenging, yet incredibly beautiful. You wont be disappointed.. go hike Bear Mountain.

This was a bit of a longer hike than I was expecting, but not so long that it wasn't enjoyable. We had originally planned to hike another trail, but as I had baby on my back, the first trail was narrower than we felt safe. Bear Mountain had some great scrambles and some even better views of the beautiful Sedona Red Rocks. I love the outdoors and the many different views changing elevation offers and this hike definitely did not disappoint.

This is a true mountain hike with stunning views and beautiful landscape on the trail. It's rugged and you should be prepared with proper clothing, plenty of water and food or snacks. Once you get to what you think is the top, you look up and see you have a lot farther to go to get to the summit. A 1800-ft ascent. A great hike/climb.
