“Long grind but a great finish!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Having done this several times it is important to know that it's a long strenuous hike up with several "benches". Not for the casual hiker but also not treacherous by any means. No need for ropes but you will be tired and you must be in shape. Be prepared with plenty of water and snacks as well as your typical emergency pack as this is not a popular trail and you may be alone and it may take all day. Fantastic views from the top! Remember, you must also hike back down. Enjoy!!!

“Pack a Lunch and Go All the Way Up!”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is a somewhat challenging hike, but so worth it. Go all the way up to see some amazing sandstone formations and spectacular views!

“Worth every bit of effort!”
Reviewed May 27, 2013 via mobile

This is one of the most rewarding hikes I have ever been on. To give you an idea about me, Im in shape, I hike about once or twice a month and I dont take a lot of breaks or let people ever pass me. It took me approx 4hrs rountrip. From the parking lot it looks like it isn't so bad and definitely not 2.4mi. But as you start there are plenty of rock scrambles and steep paths and once you pass the first "false stop" you realize the trail takes you all the way over to another range of mountain tops where you go down hill, then back up and so on. Be sure to follow the trail markers (piles of rocks)! All along the entire trail are the most incredible views. The hike was certainly a strain, but the views along the way made it all worth it. Its as if I was walking along the edge of the earth for hours. PS For the folks that said this is a "nice 1hour hike", they didn't make it to the top and actually missed the most amazing part of the whole trail. Tips: you will ask yourself if this is the end... The answer is no, keep going. If you want to eat lunch, go to the top then come back down the trail a little bit to eat. The view is
better. And there are little trail markers all along the way... Look for the "cans" or small pile of rocks. They are especially helpful guides.

“Not for the faint of heart”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

This hike is one of the two most strenuous day hikes to do in Sedona. The other is Wilson Mountain. The full hike goes up to 6800 feet. There are two "false summits" when you think you've made it, but then you see when you get there, that the trail goes on. Be prepared to do some scrambling in some places. A hat, excellent footwear, LOTS of water, and stamina are required to enjoy this challenge. It feels like a great accomplishment when it's over.

“very tough!”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

A lot harder than the guide books say. You'd better be in very good shape and have really good hiking boots, lots of water. Will really raise your heartbeat.
