Owner description: A scenic and easy riding trail that winds around Twins Buttes with the Praying Nuns, Madonna and the Chapel of the Holy Cross within easy view.

I'm a novice hiker and found this easy. One can see the chapel from this trail. The view from chicken point is outstanding. Plan to take some time relaxing and taking it all in from the top. The jeep tours bring their guests here but they don't hang out very long. Go early morning when cool.

This is an easy to moderate walk - the moderate bit comes at the end when you reach Chicken Point as there is a bit of a steep climb to get on the rock at the end but not strenuous.
This is favoured by mountain bikers so do watch out for the returners as they travel fast and if on their own you don't hear them.
Also watch out for hill runners! We came across a couple and they were just as fast as the bikers but all greet you with good humour.
It is worth the walk as the views on the top of Chicken Point are superb.

We were looking for a moderate half-day hike without too many other people on the trail. Little Horse Trail was recommended by one of the experts at an Info Center, and he nailed it. You are surrounded by red rocks, with views of some of the named ones including Bell and Courthouse. Closer to the trail, we found cactus coming into bloom, with many shades of pink and yellow.

The hike was not difficult, but there's no water, and not a lot of shade, so be forewarned and prepared with water and a hat. The destination is Chicken Point, with towering red cliffs on one side and both near and distant views in other directions. You may see people on top of the view point from down below, and think the summit is too difficult to reach, but just keep moving and you'll find the trail winds gently to the top.

We enjoyed lunch on top of Chicken Point, with the place to ourselves after the pink jeeps had departed via a dirt road in a different direction. We thought the hike was a lot more fun than taking a tour, because of the endless, always changing views along the way.

Of the three hikes we did (Courthouse/Bell Rock and West Forks were the others), this was the best for us. Relatively easy with an incline as you make your way to Chicken Point, but the incredible views at the end make it well worth the time. That was the other great part of it: time. We had a plane to catch and wanted to squeeze in one more morning hike. This one took less than two hours and could have been shorter with fewer pictures and time spent on top to enjoy the views. Once you reach the end of Little Horse, make sure you hike just a little further up the red rocks (maybe part of Broken Arrow trail?) for even better views.

This is a moderately easy trail in Sedona. You will need the Red Rock Pass to park at the trailhead. It's 1.5 mile one way to chicken point. I loved this hike because it was just my husband and I until we got to Chicken Point. The solitude at chicken point was ruined when three different jeep tours showed up to enjoy the view. Oh well I didn't have to pay for the jeep tour and most of the hike was peaceful. You also get a view of the famous church along this trail.
