“Best Value for Your Money in Sedona”
Reviewed October 27, 2006

The Sedona Motel is unpretentious, offering exactly what I wanted during my visit to Sedona: clean and spacious rooms, each with a refrigerator, large bathroom, subtle decor and helpful staff. No pool, but I really don't care to swim in chlorine when Oak Creek is walking distance away, with crystal clear water and great swimming holes. The motel is located a stone's throw from the 'Y', the intersection of 179 and 89A, so I found it an ideal base from which to explore Sedona in all directions and return easily. What a blessing to be in a non-smoking motel! The rooms actually smell nice. And the view! Sedona is stunning, and my front window gave me a spectacular view of some of the incredible red rock formations. The manager helped me locate places I wanted to visit and revealed many more I was unaware of, and some of those turned out to be the best places I experienced. I've stayed in many hotels and motels in Sedona, and many are okay. A friend recommended the Sedona Motel, and that's where I intend to stay from now on. It's better than okay.

The Sedona Motel is a nice motel right in the middle of town so it's easy to get to everything. The rooms are very large, the beds comfortable, and the rooms clean and well taken care of. The manager was a lot of fun and added to the enjoyment of our stay. The motel is easy to find and you can get to everything very easily. Parking is in front of your room. Even though it is technically within walking distance to Uptown and Tlaquepaque, it was too hilly and the streets too busy for my elderly parents to walk. But because of the location we didn't have to drive very far for anything.
Definitely plan to get some wine or drinks (liquor store across the street) and have a "cocktail hour" on the covered patio at the end of the hotel. It's a wonderful way to unwind and enjoy the changing colors of the mountains as the day wears down.
We ate breakfast at the Coffee Pot and The Orchards (The Orchards is in uptown district). Both are great places though the Coffee Pot was a little pricey. The best shopping was in the ArtMart across the street (89A) from the Coffee Pot. It's an artist co-op in a shopping mall but don't be fooled by the outside. The selections were just as good as going to 6 or 7 shops in uptown and the prices were much better.

This is a great little motel. I have stayed in places far more expensive that were not as nice and clean. The managers were super friendly and helful and it is located in the middle of downtown so there is shopping in easy walking distance in both directions. We came to Sedona to hike and this motel was located in the middle of some great hiking locations in all directions. Parking right at your room door makes loading and unloading your gear for each hike a snap. If you happen to be in front of your room at sunset you will see an incredible show on the red rocks across the street. A great place for hikers to stay.

Clean, good location. Only negative was the fact that the owner does not give a AAA discount even though the AAA book says he does and he proudly displays the AAA approved sign outside. I did report this to AAA.

We spent a night at the Sedona Motel in May, it was one, if not the nicest motels I have ever stayed in. It was within walking distance of most everything in Sedona. The accommodations were wonderful, an extremely clean room, helpful staff, a refrigerator in the room which locked so it could double as a safe. The towels were luxurious and bed was great, a king sized, as promised. What else could anyone want in a motel room. The person who wrote it was a nightmare sadly missed out on a great motel. Truly a 5 star night.

BEWARE! Reserved a room with two queen beds through Sedona Cental Reservations with credit card two months in advance of our trip to Sedona. On our arrival the room was not available. We were told that it did not matter that we had a confirmed reservation. They would do nothing except point out another hotel down the street. It was late afternoon on Friday during high season May 21, 2004. We spent the next several hours driving up and down Sedona looking for accomodations as the hotels were full.

Upon our return home I phoned Sedona Central and the Hotels response was that they offered us a free night and assistance finding other accomodations. This response was not only dishonest, the Hotel manager was rude. A very unpleasant experience!
