This was our 2nd visit to Mesa Grill. Last time we just had drinks and appetizers. This time we had the dinner special, lobster. Lots of others seem to have come in especially for this and it was very good. The views of the red rocks are great and you can watch planes landing on the airstrip. Good place away from the main drag of Sedona.

Cute, clean and wonderful views of the mountains. Breakfast was good and not overpriced.
Great place to watch the small planes and helicopters take off from.

Unlike previous reviews, I found the location a nice change from the busy downtown area of Sedona. Quiet, and beautiful views of the red rocks from this restaurant. We did not sit on the patio as it was very windy, but had a lovely breakfast of Mimosa's and Eggs Benedict inside. Also, had great green chili and eggs. Not huge servings if that is what you like, but just the right amount to be satisfied. We will return for sure.

I wrote about this restaurant several months back and was quite harsh in my review. However, I received a response from the owner that made me think, maybe I should give the place another try.....bad mistake on my part.

We arrived for breakfast at 8 AM. Ten minutes after being seated we had our first cup of coffee. However, after 3 requests for cream were ignored, I finally got up and helped myself to some from another table. We ordered and after another 30 minutes our food arrived. Sadly, my sunny side-up eggs were cooked "over-something". The girl that delivered the food (not our waitress) commented that "these don't look sunny". I agreed and sent them back to the kitchen. Another 10 minutes elapsed and my breakfast was served.

None of the 3 people in our party ate more than a third of the food we were served...yeah, it was that bad. The toast was, well...not toasted. The sausage had a bad smell to it and the sunny side up eggs...burned on the bottom. Of course no one ever came back to check on us after we were served or we might have been able to impart that to our....hosts.

One hour after we had been seated we were desperate to leave. Although we saw our waitress once across the room. She had not returned since taking our order. Finally we asked the hostess (manager?) for our check. She seemed completely confused, as though we were speaking some exotic, foreign language. However, we were finally able to reach her and she returned with the check 15 minutes later. It took another 20 minutes for our original waitress to process the credit card and we were out the door 95 minutes from our starting point.

Now 90+ minutes for breakfast might not seem like the end of the world, unless of course you had other plans for the day. However, the $40.00 tab for (3) egg plates and(3) coffees was insult upon injury.

Bottom line: Don't go here! Bad food, bad service, pretentious atmosphere...this restaurant has nothing good to offer! Fly in for the breath-taking scenery. But fly out to another airport for breakfast.

What an incredible place to dine: among the red rocks as you watch small private planes depart and arrive--and what about that bright red biplane that coasted in so smoothly as we awaited our breakfast? The Mesa Gril (previously known as the Airport Grill) appears to be quite new, and nicely done. We had breakfast here and as the title of this review notes, you can enjoy sunrise and sunset-or inbetween-as you dine. Our group of 4 found the selections delicious and well prepared and with prices of large breakfast entrees at around $10, reasonably priced. The toast served is large-almost like Texas toast-but soft and fresh. You can dine in the restaurant or outside adjacent to the runway: too hot for us to sit outside even at breakfast. Waitstaff was friendly and efficient. Not a long drive from the center of Sedona-an oasis to get away from traffic and heavy tourist activity. Enjoy the views up to the airport!
