“Great Resort”
Reviewed November 1, 2010

I read some reviews which weren't so good, but we found the resort very nice. We had a one bedroom with a lock off studio, and it was great. Upon checking in, we got the usual sales pitch, but we easily deflected it and were never bothered again. The rooms were large, comfortable, clean, and the staff was very attentive. If we needed something, they brought it immediately. The location was great, not right in town, but close enough. I would definately return.

The Studio Mesa Suite was perfect. Full Kitchen, small balconly. The views were the best! The pools were awesome.
It rained one day, I went swimming in it and used the barbeque in it. Great spot to go on vacation.

Arrived after a huge storm (travelling from Santa Fe) with hailstones piled outside reception like snow !

Check-in was fine, although the hard sell at the concierge desk was too much and the only way we could escape after our 7-hour drive was to agree to take part, although we knew we did not have the time in our itinerary to do so - they would just not take 'NO!' for an answer. We later cancelled much to their annoyance - listening skills are also a must in a sales role !

So, other than that 'blip' our stay at Sedona Summit was wonderful. We had a 1-bed Sunset unit booked through our Diamond Resort points and we could not have been happier with our choice. The unit was modern, spacious and fully equipped with everything you could need during your vacation, including 2 flat screen TV's, washer/dryer, full kitchen with many, many appliances, a great balcony and HUGE walk-in shower in the spacious bathroom ... WOW !

The resort is set outside town on the 89A, towards the loop road leading to Red Rock Crossing. We liked this area fine as the centre of town was a little too touristy for us. It was a great location to travel around and we will return.

Exchanged through RCI in Dec. '09 for a week in Oct. '10. Checked in early evening after a long drive. We just wanted to relax, but had to get our parking permit from the activities desk. After 15 minutes of explaining over and over that we didn't want to go to a presentation, we finally booked a Jeep tour just to get our parking permit and go to our unit. It was difficult to find in the dark (as was the resort) and when we finally did, were very disappointed. The vent cover from the bathroom fan was laying on the floor. There was no clock in the room and no bedside lamps. We called and a not too happy maintenance man brought a clock and just screwed the vent cover over the exposed hole. The weather was pleasant, but we couldn't sleep with the window open since we were very close to a busy highway. The next day a very nice maintenance man came and fixed the vent so it worked. He also found two bedside lamps for us. No one seemed to know why the unit was so unprepared for guests. This was our 4th RCI exchange and 3rd disappointment. The units put up for exchange seem to be the less than desirable ones. The resort website showed a much different unit than we received. The reception from the pushy activities person and the substandard room pretty much lead to our decision to leave 3 days early. Plus we had to pay for internet access.

We absolutely love our RCI Guests and Exchangers. There are many places to stay in Sedona and to stay at the Summit is a true honor for us. Remember as RCI owners you can exchange for various room accommodations. Depending on the room you confirm will determine in what section you stay in at the Summit Resort. We have concluded room renovations this year. All rooms have been renovated and none of them remain in the previous design. Rest assured that the Standard Unit through the Mesa and Sunset phases will have a nice crisp good looking appearance. New Furniture, Electronics and equipment. Along with new carpet, beds and a redone feel makes us ready for our RCI guests.

We have three phases” Standard, Mesa and Sunset”. Depending on what you exchange will determine where your unit will be. No rooms are set aside for any guest type. We are ready for you anytime.

Rest assured that RCI Guest at our resort will experience a great stay.

This was our first vacation with Global Discoveries Vacation Club. My wife and I traveled with another couple. The Summit provided excellent accommodations including two a joining units with each unit having its own bedroom. large bath with shower, flat screen TVs, fully equipped kitchen and balconies. The larger unit even had a gas fireplace. We balcony provided tables and chairs plus the ground level just outside our units provided a BBQ grill and picnic tables. WE LOVE OUR STAY AT THE SUMMIT.

It's a very good resort and there's lots of different types of rooms. Pretty good staff. It's a timeshare, so if you are offered a gift card to listen to a presentation go ahead if you want to, but you don't have to go. Take advantage of everything there is to do around here. Also there's other jeep tours then just pink jeep. Try several different ones, including pink jeep, and if you get a chance ask for an interesting driver, they usually know more and are fun to talk to. Crazy Coyote is a booking company and they are partially affiliated with this hotel. Crazy coyote is very good and booking things to do, definitely use them. Telacapaque is nice too. TRY THE SEDONA APPLE CIDER, the best in the world. BUT expensive.

I just got back from our second stay at Sedona Summit. Last year, we had a renovated room and it was great. This year, we got one that needs major renovation. Both times we are guests of a timeshare owner and I do not know if it has something to do with getting a bad room or not. Overall, the place has great views and one of the big pools is renovated and has a really nice hot tub. They tried to sell us a presentation in the lobby but we just said no. Also, I couldn't get the wifi to work on my iphone, though I didn't ask for help.
Pros: great views, away from busy uptown, newer pool is awesome
Cons: we got an old room with outdated southwestern décor, missing blinds, and leaking dishwasher. See photos.
