“This is my favorite resort”
Reviewed June 5, 2010

We have been to SS 3 times now and have never had a bad stay. We already own with Diamond Resorts and have attended 3 of their sales presentations so we are well aware of the pressure, but we only attend to get the freebies and they quickly give up on us.
The last time we were there we met up with another couple and it was a wonderful week!
We've been to Sedona so many times that we no longer do any of the touristy things, choosing instead to attend the farmers market, hike some trails and check out the thrift shops.
I LOVE the units that are more newly built with their views, marble countertops, jacuzzi tub and fireplaces. We have also stayed in the studio lockouts and have enjoyed them as well.
There is nothing that you will lack at this resort in the way of inside amenities and the site amenities outside. It is a just a pleasant refreshing place to get away from it all and this resort makes it even more special.

We stayed in a two bedroom new condo as an RCI exchange. The unit was beautifully appointed and very comfortable with three flat screen TVs, large bedrooms and baths. The patio was totally private. Sedona Summit is in a great location for all activities in Sedona with Jerome being 24 miles away for a nice day trip. The hotel is located near restaurants, movies, and supermarkets for those who want to cook at times. Unlike other comments about trades from RCI members, the people at the resort could not have been nicer or more accomodating. I would definitely recommend this timeshare and would stay there again.

This was our first resort experience. The location was very good away from the honky-tonky downtown and near scenic drives and hikes. There were few outstanding features but the facility is clean and the staff is polite.

The accommodations themselves are excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. No complaints whatsoever about the resort itself. The problem is the timeshare presentation. They push very hard to entice you to attend saying it will only be 90 minutes, no pressure to buy and bribe you with free things to go. They're lying through their teeth! No way you're out of there under 2.5 hrs unless you buy right away. They're convinced their product is the best thing since sliced bread and you're an idiot if you don't see that. They push very hard and regardless of the reason you give for declining, they have an answer to render your reason useless. If the first salesperson can't convince you, the sales manager comes over to have a run at you. They'll show you numbers to support their sales pitch but only show you half the picture. I worked in accounting all my life and I know that you make numbers say anything you want if you present them the right way. If staying in 5 star resorts is important to you and you can afford to pay $60K or more over the next 20 years for 1 week accommodation per year, then by all means, go ahead and buy. If not, avoid the presentation and spend that half day on your vacation enjoying the beautiful Sedona scenery.

We requested a refurbished studio upon booking. Since we got into the airport early, I called since the unit would not be ready until at least 2pm and we were told the room awaiting us was one of the refurbished. Upon checking in, I was told we were not in a refurbished room, so I complained and they changed us into a refurbished one. We had a studio. The kitchen is cramped. It is a very clean resort and the furnishings are acceptable. We had a view of the parking lot. Our central air broke twice and had to be fixed. Our coffee maker was broken and they had to bring a replacement. Our spatula was torn to shreds (plastic) and they could not find a new one, so brought me one that was intact but with visible dirt on it (it looks like it was excavated). When I wouldn't accept it, they found me a metal one. No washer and dryer in the unit, so used the ones at the clubhouse and both dryers were broken. I reported one broken and then the other took me 3 hours to even get the dampness out. If you can live with broken things and calling maintenance, then you may consider the resort. It was very clean and no in the middle of the hustle and bustle of midtown Sedona. Oh, and we could not get internet connection in our room. There are only 2 public computers in the clubhouse and they need to double up on them....Always a wait for them.

Just returned from a week-long stay at Sedona Summit. Traded a time-share week...though we had to trade our THREE BEDROOM for a studio at this place - that's our fault for not reserving much much earlier. Anyway, we were terrified the studio would be cramped & uncomfortable but it was just fine. We got one of the renovated ones, but I'm not sure there are any that are not renovated. It was lovely and very adequate. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was spacious and beautiful. Kitchen was great! VERY well-equipped- cuisinart appliances and pots & pans, no less, and all the utensils & equipment necessary were there. (I did as another suggested and brought my own cutting board, and I also brought a couple of my own sharp knives - a wise move). We flatly refused the time share tour appointment the very first day at check in! and they did not bother us again. They check you in, then say - 'now you have to go over to that desk and get your parking pass' ...but that's where the time share sales people are, trying to sign you up for a tour, while offerein this or that coupon or discounted dinner etc. They try very hard, but we refused very hard too - but in a nice way! A cool feature here is there is an ADULT pool! Yay! No screaming kids saying marco polo all day? Yea! (once your kids are grown...you don't have the tolerance for noise that young parents do) It was lovely & quiet. Hot tub/spa was GREAT! really hot too - and chemistry was carefully maintained each day. Views from rooms don't matter too much - we had a view of the parking lot but the red rock mountains still stuck out above it. The very best sunset spot in Sedona is a 5 minute walk from the Sedona Summit. This is the spot that is recommended (to watch sunsets) by the travel council, chamber of commerce folks. It is a magical spot. And so easy. Pleasantly surprised by the Sedona Summit. Sedona -? It was OK!

We thought we exchanged into what we remembered from staying here before, a unit which was spacious with a king-sized bed, large full kitchen, living room and private patio. We were placed into a one-bedroom, new unit across the street and while the decor was very nice the 1 bedroom unit was like a bachelorette or efficiency type unit with a queen bed. Our patio, as were most, and our living room window, was facing a parking lot and sitting alongside the resort sidewalk so there was absolutely no privacy! I asked if we could move to either one of the older places or to one that had a patio not on the parking lot. They said they were sold out so we had no other choice. We were given a tip by the concierge however, and that is in the future we should call a week ahead and request the 1-bdrm. Mesa units which face the gorgeous red rocks. As it turned out, we were gone all day and the nights were quiet so it was fine but I would not want to stay in such a small sized unit again for a whole week. I must say that the resort staff were really nice and as soon as I called for extra towels, or other items they were at our door within 15 minutes. Very efficient. It's hard to complain though when you are surrounded by such beautiful scenery and so many wonderful outdoor things to do here in Sedona!
