We took our grandson and his buddy (8 and 9) on this tour. Our driver was Gene and he was perfect for our boys. We did not want to go four wheeling all over the place so he did a mild ride with just enough bumps to make it fun for the boys but not painful for us. He took us for a three hour ride, giving wonderful facts about the Sedona desert to keep the boys interested. We really enjoyed spending the money more locally that with the Pink Jeep company, a corporate business. We saw a few of them on our ride and they seemed to cram as many people in a jeep as possible. Our trip was just the four of us. Lots of fun!

I asked a Safari Jeep tour of Sedona rep for the best tour for sunset photos of sedona rocks. We signed up for the best "Sunset Tour" per the first rep - who turned out to be a timeshare pusher. We declined to sit through their presentation & pd "full" price.

When we got to the tour company in sedona, a different rep suggested a different tour as the best for sunset photos & moved us to that tour. We later found out they only did a few tours that day so i now suspect the 'best' tour is whatever they have people signed up for. The price also went up - even though per their paper it should have been a cheaper tour. When i questioned him, he mumbled something about taxes, even though the first rep said his quote was a final price. If we had gotten what we paid for, we would have been ok with the price.

i specifically asked both reps if we would be stopped at a scenic location for the sunset & was promised we would be in a great location only accessible with a jeep. We were NOT. Just the time when we needed to set up for sunset photos we stopped at a PERFECT location where we could shoot photos either east if the sun lit the rocks orange, or west into the sun if it was too cloudy to light the eastern rocks. As i was setting up my camera, the guide said we were leaving to go to the 'ultimate' sunset location. But that was not true. What we were really doing was driving back. My heart SANK as i watched a beautiful sunset get farther away & disappear behind trees & power lines!! The perfect location turned out to be stopping on the side of the road where you struggled to keep the road out of your photos & the rocks were too close for good vista sunset views. Our day had some clouds that prevented the orange glow east early, which would have been ok b/c if we had stayed in our last location, we COULD have gotten beautiful shots westward and at least not had the road in our eastward shots. And the clouds did clear and glow on the rocks, but by then we were almost back. So i was trying capture sunset shots around homes and electric wires in a moving jeep.

So be warned of false advertising with this company! Their sunset tour does NOT stay in a nice location for the sunset! You'll be driving in town when the sunset gets good!! It was a HUGE disappointment to be so close to great sunset photos of sedona rocks, only to miss out d/t false advertisement!! And watch their pricing - it changes!

We were a family of 4 adults & 2kids plus dog. We went on the Extreme ride and it was a wild fun ride we loved. Our driver Chad was a wealth of history information and was a great thrill driver.
I would like to recomend him and I say... Climbing the big rock hills and the Extreme down ride was to die for!
This was no causious silly pink jeep, It was rugged.

We booked two tours with this business, the Archeology tour and the Vortex tour. The Archeology tour had more hiking than I expected and was advertised. My husband had a little bit of trouble because his balance is not good but the (small) group was very good about it. On the other hand, the rest of the group was doing a red rock adventure tour right after this one and our guide offered to take us along for free. How fun is that?

The next morning we did the Vortex tour. There was one other couple on this tour and they were very nice. Our guide (Gregg) let us spend as much time as we wanted to poking around Merry-Go-Round Rock, doing some meditation and we were never rushed. Ask for Gregg if you book with Safari - you won't be disappointed

We were given a two for one, $189. tour from the Safari Jeep Tour company called the Bottom of the Grand Canyon one day tour. The print out states " Take a fantastic journey to the depths of one of Americas most breath-taking sights. Listen to talks on wildlife, plants and geology while soaking in the beauty of this wonder. Listen to the mighty Colorado River and enjoy lunch---perhaps wade in the beautiful water. A rare privilege to enter Haulapai land and explore the beauty."

What a load..... Number one the only reason I gave this one instead of none, was that Allan, our driver and "tour guide' seemed nice and gave us some tips on what to do in Sedona, i.e. restaurants, other attractions, don't get bilked in the shops etc. The lunch was fine, fresh sandwiches, chips, macaroni salad and a cookie and lots of water, which we needed. Like I said he was a nice guy.

He met our group in an old van that held 8 people to drive us to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Do not think for a minute that this is the bottom where people hike down or take the mules down. IT IS NOT!!!!! We took a stop in Williams, not the down town area, but good old American McDonalds for coffee etc....then on to our destination with one more pit stop before entering the Hualiapai land where an old dirt road led us to the bottom.

We pitched and rocked over an 18 mile dirt road in this old van, with the pressure on the air did not work well. This "road" really required a jeep or 4x4, not an old van. But we got there. Our guide pointed out barrel cacti, ocotillo and some mesquite and tumble week. That was the plant part of the tour...the wildlife was mountain sheep. We saw 3, that was it for wildlife, but not our guide's fault. The geology was in our imagination. Some people tried to asked questions and they were answered, but there was no real discussion of any geology about this marvelous American wonder. How did the Grand Canyon form? etc..He did talk about areas having been underwater in the past and pointed out two different types of volcanoe in the area, that was the geology part I guess.

When we got to the bottom there was a river raft trip coming in and packing up. A group of Hualapai were working on a BBQ for another trip and our guide told us that they were not friendly to the tours, but they were "tall".

After lunch we loaded back into the van to bump and rut our way back up. Then drove back to Sedona to be dropped off at our hotel.

This was a true rip off...glad we only spend $189 plus tax for the both of us and not over $400. like some may have paid.....that would have really been annoying.

On the trip back our guide talked more about the different restaurants in Sedona. As we were passing an area where native American women were selling jewelry he told us he usually stops there, but couldn't today, because he had to stop in the tour office to handle paper work and payment vouchers. Well thank you for cutting our tour so the tour company gets all their money.

If you check out my reviews, I rarely write a bad one, unless it is well deserved. This one deserves it. I will never get today back..it is gone,....we sat on a sandy area by the Colorado River for an hour, nothing breath taking, no beauty and no wonder. We would have been better off takint the shorter Mogollon Rim Run Tour, or find a different company. Yes please do that, find a different company if you want to go down into the Grand Canyon.
