We used my parents' time share trade. I usually stay in West Sedona and I was unsure how I would like staying south of Sedona in the Village of Oak Creek. I ended up being very happy with the location and the time share property (and I don't care at all about golf.) First of all, anytime we got in the car, we were treated to spectacular views of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. I developed a whole new appreciation of these 2 gorgeous rock formations, getting towering, up close views at all times of day. Check in is a little time consuming, and one of our 3 rooms was not ready. Everyone working there was just as nice and as helpful as can be, and they worked hard to make our check in as easy as possible (no laziness and no laid-back attitudes here.) My parents had a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen, living/dining area, and it was beautiful. I had an adjoining studio, equipped with a smaller eat in kitchen containing a table and 4 chairs, full size refrigerator, small stove, dishwasher, toaster and microwave, which opened up to the rest of the room containing the queen bed and pull-out sofa. Both bathrooms were large, modern, new and beautiful. My sister and her family had an identical studio room, but not adjoining. My son has slept on pull-out sofas everywhere, and this was literally the only comfortable pull out he has ever slept on! It is a super thick, high quality foam mattress made exclusively for Diamond Resorts, and we were amazed. We were also surprised at how private these units were. We were not disturbed by other people coming and going at all. I think these units are much nicer and larger than a nice hotel room. As for the location, it really only took 15 minutes to drive to uptown Sedona, but that does add extra time when you want to go out for dinner. There are places to eat very nearby, and I utilized them heavily, especially when it came time to feed hungry kids (see my other reviews.) I think the distance would pose less of a problem for a couple. There are lots of stairs to contend with if you have a second floor unit, and depending on your unit, you may also have to deal with long staircases to access the pool. If this is a problem for you, be sure to arrange to get a first floor unit, and, if needed, a unit level with the pool. I had no problem with parking, and no problem with access to outdoor grills. We utilized concierge to make reservations, and they were prompt and responsive. In one week, we got one housekeeping service, and it was not as thorough as a hotel daily service would be. If you need something, from fresh towels to sugar packets, just call the front desk. They will send someone up to help you. I called to ask where to take out my trash, and they even offered to send someone to get it (I did it myself, anyway, but you see my point!) The Bell Rock area is a vortex site, and by the end of the week, the energy was becoming a little overwhelming. The energy felt to me like a revved up and playful energy, almost an excited energy, and certainly not a calming influence! Cell phone reception was extremely spotty in this area, and we all have major cell carriers. This severely hampered our ability to communicate with each other. If the energy and spotty cell phone service would be a problem for you, better to select a property in West Sedona or uptown. We seemed to be able to make call by the pool. My brother-in law used free wi-fi at the Desert Flour Bakery, but I would recommend The Field in West Sedona. My brother-in law went for a jog around the golf course every morning, taking advantage of the beautiful paths and water dispensers put out for golfers. My father loved playing the golf course. We loved the Ridge At Sedona Golf, and we would definitely do it again.
