We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the building. The view from the church. And the architecture. Truly a sacred place.

The Cathedral is creatively joined with the beautiful rock formations. you can drive to the base and they have a nice walkway (stairless) that gradually leads you up to the entrance. We were impressed with the gift shop in the basement that carried a variety religious item. The views from the platform surrounding the Cathedral is surreal. This is especially the case when the sky is blue
and the sun in in the west. Look for the 29 million dollar mansion at the base...nice digs. There is no fee and you can sit in the sanctuary as long as you please. It is well worth the visit.

The line was down the mountain and not moving to enter this place. We ran a bit short on patience and ended up pulling over to take some beautiful photo's of the Cathedral from the road. Worth a short drive up the mountain to at least see it up close.

A must see we were told was the Chapel of the Holy Cross & boy were people right. There is no fee to get in but there was a line of cars to get in. The wait wasn't too bad -about 10 min or so. As you walk up towards the chapel, you are surrounded by magnificent views everywhere you turn. Don't forget your camera or you will regret it! The Chapel is beautiful and my fiancé & I took time to light a candle & say a prayer for our loved ones. It was peaceful and we were so glad we took the time to see & experience this attraction.

If you are into architecture, you would probably want to see it. I would have been fine to skip this and have gone on another hike instead. It would have been more special to me, perhaps, if there was more than a 5 minute church service offered, like a full mass.
