We arrived late from the grand canyon but the innkeeper was helpful with directions to the hotel and showed us how to get to the resturant we wanted to eat at.
The rooms were nice, clean had all the amenities we needed.
I was a little disappointed in the lack of view and the noise of the traffic was a little loud.
The spa and garden area was wonderful. All in all it is hard to fault this place the price is
very good considering what other places in Sedona go for.
I loved loved loved the red rocks I did not get to see enough in the 2 days I was there.

This little place is in just the right place! One building away from 89A (one of the main drags) but actually on a residential street...quiet but convenient. One of best restaurants in town is right across street (Heartline). Whole foods store, organic restaurants, mystical shops, etc are also close by. Across street from municipal pool which could be nice in warm season. Rooms nicer than they appear in website photos. Walk up the residential street or out to the main drag for fabulous views of significant rock formations. Live on site innkeeper very nice and helpful. Rooms clean. Heat works great. Larger than normal bathrooms. Due to economy I got a rate about 60% of normal. I'll post some photos when I get home.

The Lo Lo Mai Lodge has changed owners! The motel is now called the Baby Quail Inn, and I must say, I am beyond impressed! The new owners are re-modeling the exterior... and soon the interior, it is like a brand new inn! It is obvious that the inn is in a new era, everything is getting cleaned, beautified, upgraded... it's amazing! Thankfully, the same friendly inkeeper (Janie) is still there, she is the greatest! She makes the best breakfasts and is so helpful with all of our needs! PLUS>> the new owners also own the Quail Ridge Resort in the Village of Oak Creek, so now we can use all of thier amenities! They have a beautiful pool, tennis courts and are right on the National Forest...so the hiking is amazing! All you have to do is bring your room key and you can spend the day in the pool! This is one happy, impressed guest! Way to go!

As other reviewers have said the Lo Lo Mai is just off 89A and you can indeed walk to some strip Mall shops but you'll need to drive about 5 miles to the "core" shopping areas of Sedona. I stayed in room 7 on March 24 and 25th, 2005 and the following were items in dis-repair:

-Deadbolt was inoperable, loose and hanging off the door 1/8th of an inch
-Curtains didn't close all the way
-Outside porch light was inoperable
-Windows are single pane aluminum and are incredibly hard to operate
-Shower head had to be held with one hand to keep from falling to the floor
-Owner was defensive about issues I raised and wasn't happy to hear them
-Owner came out on 2 of 2 occasions (Saturday) wearing a surgical mask and a pink jump suit. I have no idea what she was doing in the back room but it definately gave me the heebee jibee's. I cut my stay short.

On the positive side there were no roaches, ant or other pest problems that I could see. The owner was also aware of the shower issue and had plans to fix it.

This is a two story motel set back behind a strip mall with exterior cat walks servicing the second floor. The parking lot is dirt/fine gravel.

I can't recommend this Motel unless you're on an extremly tight budget. It was clean but that was about it.

Stayed in Sedona March 7-9 2005 at Lo Lo Mai Lodge. Good value for rate paid. Location was good (although more than walking distance from town as they claim) and set back from 89A which made for quite accomodations. The staff at this place is more than helpful and accomodating for whatever you need. Small fridge and microwave are a great add on. The place is a little run down and doors could have had better locks but overall you can't beat this place for location and price. Very close to the airport to see the sunset. Would stay there again.

This is a charming little motel that is run like a bed and breakfast by extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff. Smoking is not allowed on the premises, inside or outside. This is strictly enforced and if you are a smoke-free fanatic like me, you will enjoy the clean air and fresh rooms.I've stayed at the Lolomai perhaps half a dozen times. The people are amazing. I'm quirky as anything and they go totally out of their way to accomodate me. I mean, they not only *let* me re-arrange the furniture in my room (I'm that bad), they *help* me do it!The Lolomai is situated in West Sedona set back from the main strip, in delightful rose garden. Beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere. There's a hot tub on the premises. You get a generous breakfast as part of your room cost, which is among the lowest in Sedona ($55-$85). There are about 12 rooms. They're clean and a little funky, definitely not your usual motel furnishings. The rooms are small but not claustrophic. Each room has a fridge and microwave, the bed or beds, and a table and chairs. And there is lawn furniture and benches in the garden, a very pleasant place for breakfast or just to sit.As a hotel guest you have access to the family's extensive campgrounds/pool, etc. at Lolomai Springs, about 7 miles west of town, on Oak Creek.Ok, so here are some negatives: They have an antiquated phone system. You won't be able to receive any calls unless someone is on duty to answer the phone; and they aren't always. The rooms are a little small and quaintly decorated. But they're clean.Rooms on the back side are noisy--there's road noise and also noise from a restaurant next door (on weekends). Rooms on the front side are quieter. No red rock views. If you're looking for a comfortable place to sleep, at a very reasonable price, with wonderful people, you will be happy at this motel.
