I read all the descriptions before booking and they were in large part spot on. This is not a spa. This is not a luxury hotel. It is rustic. It is remote from the hustle of downtown Sedona. It is delightfully outdated in decor--almost quirky in a proud sort of way. And, it is a place you can walk barefoot into the main lobby and not feel out of place. And did I mention the views. The views alone are worth the stay at the Lodge. Most who come to Sedona make the trip up to the adjoining public overlook for the views. Guests at the Lodge get the views anytime they want from their room...or after a short hike to the patio. The rooms. Spacious, clean and...did I say rustic? Nothing wrong with that. Did I say dated? Nothing wrong with that either. The grounds were well cared for and worth spending time at...reading, lounging about or napping. I saw guests do all three. I did two--reading and lounging. Sunset and Sunrise watching is well worth the time at the patio. Bring binoculars. And bring a telephoto lense for your camera. You need go no futher to get the most spectacular photos of Sedona. Just a short walk away is the Airport Restaurant. The food and the views there are both very good. We had dinner and lunch and both were outstanding. Regarding the packages offered by the Lodge. They are confusing. Confirm with the hotel what they are actually offering before purchasing. When we go back to Sedona, we will most definately be staying at the lodge again.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a room with a view.

I stayed in Sky ranch lodge for 5 nights in December 2011. It was a wonderful stay for the price we paid. We enjoyed the view from our room and also the sunset from the gardens at the lodge. Upon arrival, we were treated to a room that was nicely warmed and clean. Contrary to what other reviewers commented, we found our beds and pillows very comfortable and slept well throughout our stay. And also the fridge was equipped with ice. While it may not be luxurious, it is well worth the price paid. In particular, I would like to highlight the excellent service provided by Andy, one of the staff. He was most helpful with providing advice on where to go, eat and explore. He made us feel very welcomed during our entire stay. Other junior staff that served us, however, were not as friendly and can better improve on their service. In addition, sky ranch lodge is really near Mesa grill which is serves good food and has awesome views as well.

We spent two January nights at Sky Ranch Lodge. The facility itself is a large motel-type place with rooms on two levels adjacent to parking, with outside stairways. Our room was large, clean, and well equipped. Perhaps because we wanted two beds, we were assigned a unit which required hauling our luggage up the stairs, when the place was more than half empty. Anyway, once we got installed we liked the unit. The gas fireplace was a nice touch (though it didn't heat the room appreciably -- we had to use the heat pump unit for that.)

Sky ranch is located on the hill overlooking Sedona, right across from the airport. (Don't worry about noise; this is a small airport with no night operations.) At sunset, you can walk next door to the public viewing area and see magnificent plays of sunset light on red rocks.....really wonderful..

We booked a package including the Pink Jeep Tour of some of the backcountry. The Pink Jeep tour itself was wonderful....but see their reviews for more detail. The package ended up not being such a good deal -- we could have done better by just booking a (cheaper) room and then paying Pink Jeep's winter (discounted) rates.

The Sky Ranch Lodge has the potential to be an amazing property. It sits high atop a hill right near the Sedona airport overlooking West Sedona. The grounds are well landscaped and is gorgeous to look at outside your room. They also have a private overlook you can sit with your sweetie and enjoy the view of the red rocks.

The rooms are a different story. It feels more like an apartment than a hotel room. My wife and I ran out of hot water our first morning, there was no ice in the ice machine, and the pillows are very uncomfortable. I'm a deep sleeper, but I woke up 4 or 5 times each night we were there. This place really needs a total renovation. The spectacular view and beautiful landscaping should rooms to match.

The location of this hotel is ideal . Great setting, fabulous views, but Sky Ranch Lodge needs some work. It is tired . I am amazed that the owners dont invest some money into this property. Just some updated bedding and linens would be an improvement. We have stayed there several times, but there are too many other choices in Sedona. I agree also that the staff seems indifferent. Unfortunate because it is in one of the most stunning spots in Sedona.

Room Tip: Request a room with a view ! Stunning !

Coming from France with my wife for our first Arizona vacation, we spent 3 nights early December at the Sky Ranch Lodge, we enjoyed every bit of it, beautiful scenery, rooms (small cottages) clean and cosy, comfortable beds, simple but nice decoration, a small kitchen well equipped to fix your breakfeast, good service, our place was cleaned everyday and coffee, tea and fresh towels replenished, to make a long story short, everything you could expect from higher rated motels, the prices were very affordable. We will be back in the Spring, and we will not look for any other place, by the way, there is a nice place to eat (breakfeast, lunch and dinner) 200 yards away at Sedona airport.

Room Tip: Ask for a cottage with a view on the red rocks.

The Sky Ranch has always been our choice of stays while visiting Sedona. Our family finds the amazing location somewhat like our little secret. The winding drive up the small mountain side gifts you with a panoramic view of the town and the breath taking mountains. The starry night sky is truly your roof top. The lodge is quaint and feels intimate. We found the staff helpful. The rooms are good size , simple and adequate. The one issue we had was the lack of enough hot water at various times of the day. We had need for 4 family members to shower each morning and found we had to be strategic .....rise very early or somebody shower at night . We plan to return for the lovely location and just the feeling for the intimate location.
It is well worth a little personal tweeking (hot showers ). Also family owned I believe...I like
to support non chain stors, inns, etc.... One more thing...don't take a room that has a room above it...risk a loud party above you...otherwise very quiet.

Room Tip: Choose a room that does not have a room above....risk hearing the footsteps and activity from above...
