My wife and I hadn't been away together in ages so we agonized over the internet for hours trying to decide where to stay in Sedona. We finally chose L'Auberge de Sedona Resort and Spa. It seemed very upscale, it was located directly on Oak Creek and directly below Uptown Sedona's shops and restaurants.

From the moment we arrived, we were absolutely impressed. The grounds were impeccable. The Lodge was stunning. The staff was courteous and attentive. We booked a Lodge room but were told they had upgraded us to a Cottage Suite. Wow! What a nice suprise. Opening the door to the Cottage (actually the Bell man did) and walking in, we were hit with the most wonderful, yet subtle scent of Roses. It sounds corney but it made the most incredible impression. They use Anthousa scent diffusers in the rooms. This is but one example of what seperates L'Auberge from all the rest in Sedona. They spare no expense in seeing that their guests experience is memorable. The Cottage was amazing. The restaurant was amazing- we sat within inches of Oak Creek and endulged every sense...sight, sound, taste, and smell.

It was beyond anything we had experienced anywhere else. You have to stay there!

We spent a great deal of time evaulating various Sedona resorts on TripAdvisor. This was our 3rd trip to Sedona and previously had stayed at the Hilton and then next time at the Canyon Villas B & B.

We cannot say enough about this resort! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly/ We particulary liked the "no tipping" policy in exchange for a $25 per day fee. It is simply a better policy.

Originally we booked a room in the Lodge, which was very nice. Not overly large, bathroom was a little tight, but overall very comfortable. After 2 nights, we asked to view the cabins, just for future reference, and liked what we saw. As it happened, there was a 1 Bdrm cabin available for $50 more per night and we moved to it. It was SO MUCH better! Very large and a much better bathroom setup.

There were several other very positive aspects to our stay. The resturant was great! We ate outside by the creek for lunch and twice during our stay for dinner. The Sunday Brunch was excellent and all of the other meals were at least "4-Star". the Sous Chef came by to visit with us which was very nice.

We also enjoyed the Wine Bar and the Wine Reception each evening.

We absolutely will return to L'Auberge in the future! In fact, we are considering bringing our entire family (12) to this wonderful place!

On a side note, RGS played golf at the Sedona Golf Resort for the 3rd time and, once again, it was terriffic! Shot a 54 on the front nine and then a 39 on the back nine, for a 93! Not bad for a 22 handicap! If you are into golf, you should definetly play at the Sedona Golf Resort!

My husband and I were looking for a romantic getaway. We were very disappointed by L'Auberge. Our lodge room was small, not clean, and the mini refrigerator did not work. The water pressure was negligible, making a shower unpleasant. The tiny balcony looks out to the parking lot and is actually right above the parking lot. Sitting out there to relax, have a drink, or read is very unpleasant.

There is no pool on site and the pool next door is a hefty uphill hike and is small, and not half as nice as our home pool. We weren't told about the $25 a day "tipping charge" until check in. The concierge service was spotty, and I was told how to get to one of the parks, and the instructions were wrong. We got totally lost.

The grounds are very pleasant and the creek and restaurant setting are very pretty.

I would not go back or recommend this hotel.

We booked a room in the Lodge expecting something worthy of your hotel's 4-4.5 star rating. Me and my wife were celebrating our anniversary and we were very disappointed with the quality of the room. The room we received was room 440 and it was the first room right next to the main lobby/check-in area. This means all of the events the hotel holds in the morning and the evening we will be in the middle it whether we wished to participate or not. Also the room was tiny and the bathroom was even smaller. This did not seem like the getaway that we imagined as the room looked like it belonged to the day's inn. The tv was sub-par compared to most hotels of the same rating and there was a noticeable smell in the room. The sheets were not soft, the bed was not comfortable or inviting and the decor of the room was old and dingy. The carpet and the chairs also had stains on them. Also the patio had a view of a large wall and vines. Apparently the perk of your hotel being right on the creek is not available to Lodge guests. Your hotel also does not have any amenities like a pool or a workout room and I was told they directed guests to a "sister hotel" which is even worse than the lodge if they wanted to enjoy those benefits. The high star rating is apparently because of the cottages. They looked very nice and luxurious... but at 3 times the rate! Compared to EVERY 4-4.5 star hotel in Sedona this was the worst deal I have ever seen. Because of this shock and not wanting to pay for a rate for a high rated hotel and receive a 2 star room we decided to leave. This process only made it worse since the staff did not seem to know what they were doing. The staff ended up charging the cancellation fee 3 TIMES (This is almost $900!) and I had to make several calls over 2 days span (thanks for ruining the vacation) to resolve this. I even had to call my bank to obtain a number to get these charges reversed since your staff was unable to figure this out on their own. I was also NEVER OFFERED ANY alternative and was told they were "almost" fully booked (on a Wednesday??) and basically said "like it or leave it" in so many words.

We were also forced to pay the cancellation fee even though we did not cancel, we showed up and we were not happy. Your staff did nothing to resolve our issues except ask the bell boy to walk our luggage back to the car.

Your hotel falsely advertises itself as a 4-4.5 star hotel. Your website does not accurately portray this and there is no evidence of this until you arrive. You need to advertise and sell the Lodge as a 2.5 star room and the cottages as a 4.5 since there is such a wide discrepancy.

There is a positive note, we previously booked a creekside massage and it was excellent. We would recommend the massage to others but we will never recommend your hotel due to the poor customer service, awful rooms, and your unforgiving polices.

If you wish to enjoy your stay I would book a room at the neighboring Amara Creekside resort or the Sedona Rouge Hotel. For the same price as a Lodge room ($250-280) you can get a large luxurious bathroom, fireplace, a view, a great king size bed, and the same quality coincerge service. You will also avoid the snotty staff and enjoy your Sedona getaway.

After learning that this resort was tabbed one of the world's 10 best places to stay by Conde Nast, I thought we'd try it. A mistake; Conde Nast and we have different criteria it seems. L'Auberge de Sedona was a nice place, but not great. The outer cottages by the creek were considerably better than the main hotel/lodge, still rather old and dated. Perhaps considered quaint by some, but just stale by us. Lunch at the creekside restaurant was fine but the menu of the resort restaurant was not inspiring and some of the other posts seem to agree. Overall, the staff was fine, but the physical plant of this resort was not in keeping with the reputation. A significant disappointment.
