We stayed at L'Auberge for five nights during April and it was wonderful. The quality of the service is comparable to Ritz-Carlton hotels, the Broadmoor (CO), the Greenbrier (VA). The concierge staff was excellent and gave excellent suggestions for hiking, sightseeing and restaurants based on what we described as our interests and likes. They are extremely friendly as well. The concierge staff also serves as 'front desk' staff and can help with pretty much anything you need. The excellent service also includes the bellmen/valets, restaurant, bar and spa staff. We were very impressed and it exceeded our expectations.
The restaurant was quite good, excellent service, beautiful creekside setting, and the food was very good.
Our room was in the main lodge, a Jr. Lodge Suite, and it was very nice. Large with a small table and chairs, a settee, two comfy chairs and large ottoman, king bed, desk/TV area, in room safe, and mini-fridge that gets stocked with water daily. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had double sinks (which my husband and I really prefer). It was very clean and the small balcony was wonderful for sitting while having coffee from the in-room Keurig. I'm not sure how much large the junior suite is than the regular room, so I'm not sure if it was really worth the extra cost, but was a very nice room. Great amenities and turndown service.
We love that the location was tucked behind and downhill from the main drag in Sedona with lots of shops and restaurants. We could walk but the hotel staff happily will drive you up to town over to Tlaquepaque shopping/dining area in their electric carts, and pick you up as well.
There is a daily resort fee, but tipping is not permitted except in the restaurant and spa, even if you try, so it's worth it.
We've stayed at some very nice, exclusive hotels and resorts and we would rate this among the best. We'd recommend it to almost anyone, although there is no pool and no gym (who needs a gym when you can hike through Sedona?). Our kids are grown, but I don't know if this would have been a great choice for them when they were younger because they always loved hotel pools when they were little.
