“Favorite vacation every year!”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

We have been going to Garlands for about 10 years and love it more every year. The grounds, creek, cabin, garden, food, yoga and general peaceful environment is very special. The hiking and biking around the lodge and in Sedona is fun....or simply sitting on the porch with a good book makes for a lovely get-a-way.

Garland's is consistently a wonderful experience. The gourmet food, peaceful surroundings, relaxing cabins, and Oak Creek Canyon scenery are cherished by our family. Garland's continues to serve us as an annual birthday getaway and family treat. The 2014 Oak Creek Canyon fire did not touch the lodge but did damage some surrounding forest lands. Nevertheless the canyon's beauty and the Sedona Red Rocks are still spectacular. Bring a book, relax off the grid, and recharge your batteries!

All the food is very good and well presented. The resort is beautiful plus nice and quiet. Of course, no television and no phones or cellular reception. Check and ask about various items on the website.

Be prepared to have a thoroughly enjoyable experience at Garland's. It is a welcome retreat with no television, no cell phones, no wi-fi (except around the lodge). The grounds have remained totally intact with no damage from the recent fire. Around the perimeter of the grounds you can see where the fire crews back burned and the canyon to the rear was impacted. However, the verdant grounds and trees around the cabins and property remain as beautiful as ever. Meals are well planned and prepared in a quality manner. During the two nights of our stay, we had roasted New York Strip and Steelhead Trout for dinner. Breakfasts are always excellent with three-five choices. Cabins are rustic and private. Most of the staff have been there for years and they will make your stay special. A jewel in one of the most beautiful canyons in the world. Walk down the hill from the Lodge and fly fish for trout.

Room Tip: Cabins 1-4, Amanda and Mary are on the bluff overlooking Oak Creek.

The food is wonderful at the Lodge. Don't leave without picking up their cookbook! The accomodations are fun, comfortable, clean, unique... Never used a rope as a door handle before. LOL! it was nice to walk around the grounds. The upper orchard is beautiful in the summer and the creek below is nice to wade in. Everyone is friendly and meals are similar to what you experience on a cruise... you get paired up! Our experience was great. Very interesting people from Canada! Be prepared to exchange phone numbers.

Room Tip: The the big lodges are in the upper property and have the most awesome views. The smaller cabins bel...

We drove up Hwy 89A from Sedona to Garland's the first day it reopened after the Slide Fire. We were ecstatic to see that the gorgeous grounds (and structures) escaped the fire. There is truly no visible sign that the fire actually existed unless you walk to the far back of this humongous property. There you will see that that the firefighters, along with owner Gary Garland, managed to keep the damage away from the lush grounds. I recall seeing only one or two apple trees on a far corner that had been affected by either the heat or smoke. Rest assured that all is just as beautiful as you have been told or remember. BTW, our dinner that night was outstanding. Thank you, Mary and Gary.

After its close call with the Slide Fire in Oak Creek Canyon, Garland’s Oak Creek Lodge remains a welcoming oasis. We visited with friends the day the lodge re-opened on June 2 not knowing what to expect. To our surprise there was no smoke, no smell just the beauty of the creek, the green lawns, the orchards and the cool shade of tall trees – and a wonderful dining experience as always. What a relief! The magic of the canyon is still alive and well at Garland's.
