Can not say that this is THE BEST hike in Sedona ( as I saw in a lot of recommended books), but probably for Sedona it is the unusual one. Hiking a lot in Smokies this one is look very familiar what I experience there. But I could say that for summer time it would be a life saver for a lot of people- temperature drops dramatically as soon as you step in canyon woods.Beautiful walk crossing creek every now and then. And you can have multiple places for wonderful picnic.

West Forks Trail is the most popular hike in the area and I can understand why. The vegetation, rock formations and mountain scenery is awsome. I didn't realize that there are deciduous trees in Arizona. We came at the perfect time as the trees were in full colors of red, orange and yellow. Oak Creek added to the beauty. If I ever get back to the area I will put this hike at the top of my list. Hikers need to arrive before 8 in the morning to find a parking spot. There are lots of hikers on the trail. By the way, we went to Sedona to hike which we did every day! The scenery is definitely God's creation in full splendor.

This is an easy hike and very beautiful. Parking can be difficult as the parking lot is small. You may have to park on the highway and walk down into the Trail head.

It took only 2 hours up and 1 1/2 back to hike the three miles. We stopped where the trail takes you into the stream bed, and you need waterproof clothes and water shoes since you hike upstream at that point. Beautiful views of the cliffs above but I generally prefer the vistas when you hike high altitudes. Trail was also very crowded, even on a cool fall day. It is mostly shaded, so would be a great hike in the summer heat.

This trail is an easy hike and a very popular hike so get there before 10am if you want to be able to park near the trail head. You cross the creek about 13 times but there are stones to step on so if you have good balance you shouldn't get your feet wet. Don't forget to look up and all around; the textures in the sandstone are amazing and you may see a window in the rocks. The hike is 3.3 miles to the end where you can turn around and come back the way you came. There are several places to stop and sit, have a snack or a picnic, and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
