This is a 5 minute walk from the trail head on the way to other trails. Lots of great vistas and artists doing their thing.Makes me wish i could paint!

The drive up Oak Creek Canyon was beautiful. We hiked the West Fork Trail all along Oak Creek. It is very popular and busy but so worth it. After our hike we drove up to the vista overlook. We could have stayed there forever looking down the canyon.

I can't imagine not stopping at this overlook. It's a natural move to pull over at the top of the switchbacks you've just climbed, so go for it. It's fun to see the road you've just traveled and the vista of the entire canyon is breathtaking. The Navajos selling jewelry and artwork are 100% trustworthy. All vendors are certified by the National Park Service. No junk here: everything is authentic and the prices are very good. Great views, great art, how can you go wrong?

This place is amazing. The views are gorgeous! You're up about 8000 ft above sea level at the overlook. The local Indians have their goods for sale if interested. There is a small gift shop and bathroom facilities at this location. Definitely worth the trip up route 89A to see this place.

Arrive at the airport 15 minutes before sunrise, park your car in the lot across from the viewing area, set up your gear and start clicking away. The first rays coming from behind you will highlight not only the Red Rock formations, but perhaps also a few hot air balloons. A warming filter will help to enhance the color.
