Owner description: Red Rock State Park is a 286 acre nature preserve and environmental education center with stunning scenery. Trails throughout the park wind through manzanita and juniper to reach the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and hills of red rock. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse riparian habitat abounding with plants and wildlife. This riparian habitat provides the setting and the opportunity for the park to offer a focus on environmental education. Red Rock offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groups. There are a number of daily and weekly park events. The park offers a visitors center, classroom, theater, park store, ramada and hiking trails.

Nice park with trail map and restroom facilities. Access to hike up to cathedral rock was not available ( our main purpose for going here) due to water over the stepping stones that allows access across the creek. We were informed of this at range entrance point but still had to pay 10.00 to enter. Would probably not have gone in if we understood limitations and found another place to hike from.

The Grand Canyon may get all the hype but Sedona is amazing. Red Rock State park is a wonderful place to hike especially to catch the sunset. Cathedral rock is spectacular and the river that runs through makes everything even more majestic. Cheap entrance fee and good parking, this is a must do if in the area. The hiking trails are not grueling and offer wonderful scenery. I recommend hiking late afternoon through sunset.

Great for older individuals, small kids, or a short hike. The park has a selection of trails that loop around from flat paved to hill climbing. We took the trail to the far right of the parking lot and crossed the water and headed up. Easy climb, well maintained. We made a large circle and came down to the flat area that had a flat paved trail good for wheelchair use. On our way back we visited the information building. Nice clean facilities.

We thought it would have scenic views. It did not. Just a big field ... Lost $10. I kept thinking what are we missing? I wanted to see red rocks. But they aren't here

Very nice Visitor's Center with a movie of gorgeous scenic views of the Sedona area as well as telling its history. Movie must have been at least 45 minutes long Nice hiking and picnicking areas. $5/person to visit the area.
