Owner description: Red Rock State Park is a 286 acre nature preserve and environmental education center with stunning scenery. Trails throughout the park wind through manzanita and juniper to reach the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and hills of red rock. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse riparian habitat abounding with plants and wildlife. This riparian habitat provides the setting and the opportunity for the park to offer a focus on environmental education. Red Rock offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groups. There are a number of daily and weekly park events. The park offers a visitors center, classroom, theater, park store, ramada and hiking trails.

“Excellent hike/area for family”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

We spent a few hours here on our first day in Sedona and we really loved it! You can hike for as long or as little as you like, all the while being right next to the cool stream/river that runs along the park.

Had we been in Sedona longer, I could totally see our family spending another day or two here.

Be sure to bring along all the water and provisions that you need, as there are no facilities here, aside from pit toilets at the main parking lot.

Beautiful park!

“Great family-friendly place to enjoy”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

We stayed in Oak Creek area of Sedona and happened to stop by the Visitor Center right on the main road and we are so glad we did. The guy there directed us to the Red Rocks State Park for some splashing around in the Oak Creek with the kids. You do have to pay to enter the park (per vehicle I think it was around $10-15. But then we had a short walk down to the creek and got to cool off in the water while enjoying the beautiful rock views. Cathedral Rock could be seen where we were in the water and we got some great shots of it in the background. It was a great kid-friendly thing to do in the hot summer heat. The walk to the water took less than 10 minutes which was good because it was very hot. The only bummer is that the bathroom/outhouses were very smelly and so I would recommend you get changed into your swimsuits before you arrive. There is water at a spicket to wash/rinse your muddy feet when you get back before you enter your car. Great place in Sedona with kids! Also, if you go to play in the water I would highly recommend some kind of water shoe. We wore our Keens and they were great. The rocks are slippery and sharp in places.

“Great scenery, adequate visitor center , not so friendly rangers”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

They really want to pound the rules into you. I guess because so many people ignore them. Its unfortunate that they have to be so blunt and gruff about it. Other than that it was very scenic, with a so-so visitor center. There are lots of hiking trails, which we didn't explore...

“A Fine State Park”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

A few days ago,I had the privilege of being in this delightful park.I appreciated their well-maintained nature walks and the nice views of the Red Rock Formations(Cathedral Rock,3 Sisters).I enjoyed learning about the park's flora and geology.I appreciated its Anna Hummingbirds. The tour of the park given by Howard Olson,a park volunteer was very informative and included in the admission fee.On the premises, snacks were available at reasonable prices.
