“Well worth the visit”
Reviewed December 6, 2013

We arrived early afternoon and entered through the "wrong" door and we wondered quite where we were. Once we wandered into the main part and met with staff it all made sense. Weather was great so we sat out side on the patio and feasted on wine and sandwiches. Not the cheapest place but without doubt great value!!

“Unpretentious Wine Bar with Amazing Food”
Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

We came here because we were given an hour wait at a nearby restaurant. Even once I got a text that a table at the other restaurant was available, we decided to stay at 5th and Wine.

You can buy wine by the glass or bottle and can spend as little or as much as you want....the lower end wines were around $8 a glass. They also have a full bar where you can order beer or mixed drinks. We ended up sitting at the bar for dinner and the bartenders were very kind and friendly. My husband and I shared the warm Brie which came with crackers, apples, dates, and cashews--it was wonderful and only around $9. For dinner I had the macaroni and cheese and my husband had the bison burger. Both were really tasty.

The best part was the laid back atmosphere. You could come here wearing casual jeans or a nice dress. Background music was provided by a live singer covering of popular songs accompanied by a guy on a guitar. Several quirky dog paintings hang on the wall. This isn't a place that takes itself too seriously, which I love.

“Ruined meal.....”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

We came here a two weekends ago using a Groupon offer they had at the time (10$ off 20$ worth of food).

We thought the patio was lovely, sat outside to enjoy the weather, ordered some really nice red wines, at the recommendation of our server, and ordered the elk burger. ($14.95 Wyoming Elk, crispy shallots, spicy raspberry jalapeno ketchup). The burger was to die for. Literally the best burger I've had in years. So much flavor, properly cooked, with perfect accompaniments. We absolutely loved our meal and wine selections and were ready to rave about this place to our friends...

That is until the bill came. The total charge was $6.93 (thank you Groupon deal!). We paid with a $100 bill. The change came back...but in this massive pile of 5's and mostly 1's. No coins. Ok, that was odd...so we counted the bills. It was off by 19$.

We immediately waived the server over and said, "We think this change might have been miscounted..?" Totally nice about it. The server then goes behind the corner and comes out seconds later, placing a 20$ bill into the mess. He did not even count the change we handed over to him! Also, now we actually had an extra dollar..and still no coins...but whatever.

I REALLY, REALLY do not want to think he did this on purpose, but I am so sorry to say it seems as if he did. Why would he not count that massive wad of 1's and 5's and yet somehow know how much we were short changed?? We are under the impression that the server saw the new $100 bill we paid with and assumed that we wouldn't count the change that came back.

I am really sorry to leave a 1 star rating for this place as the food was STELLAR. Unfortunately, that type of service left a very bad taste in our mouths. Way to ruin an otherwise exceptional meal.

“tunes, wine and more!”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

stopped in here very last minute, and were pleasantly surprised. Sat outside on the patio where we were entertained with live music and topnotch service. We tried the two specials that were offered - they were excellent. The food could have been hotter but the presentation and the flavours were wonderful. Great selection of wines which the server actually poured and topped up through the evening - a rarity in Scottsdale. Will try to stop in when we make our next visit to old town.

“Has all of the potential to be a four or a five...”
Reviewed November 2, 2013 via mobile

This is a very nice restaurant, well equipped with a respectable selection of wines and spirits and an attractive menu. Food is well prepared and arrives from the kitchen quickly. The live music was excellent on the night we visited.

The patrons of this establishment have long ago determined that any attire whatsoever is a go at 5th and Wine, which leads to a varied experience. If you are out for a nice evening and dress accordingly, be prepared to be seated next to guys in sports team hoodies and women in football jerseys. Identity check...is this a wine bar or a sports bar? This could be a more upscale venue, but management needs to set the bar higher and instruct waitstaff to leave the blue jeans, capris and sneakers at home and dress like professionals. Pens, cell phones and other things are sticking out of back pockets just present a slovenly appearance. How about some nice black aprons? The wait station next to the live performer is just plain tacky. The red bucket on the floor by the bar needs to find a new home. We were seated at a table with a dirty napkin left on a chair. Yuck.

Again, the food and wine were quite good, but to rise to a four or a five, the staff needs better direction and more appropriate attire.
