Always hits the "high" mark on food & service. Today - group of 11 for Easter Brunch which had a great selection buffet style (lobster, crab, shrimp, oyster, sashimi spoons, lamb , NY roast, signature lobster mashed potatoes, etc ..) while also offering select items serviced from the kitchen.

Dinner service can't be beat from a steakhouse perspective with great prime cuts & seafood options.

Service is top notch and always attentive. Small bar area with live music some nights.

$$$$ category, but worth every penny! So are there sister restaurants Mastros Ocean Club & City Hall.

Our group arrived right on time and were greated by a very pleasant young lady and immediately shown to our seats. Our waiter Tim and his assistant were at our table immediately asking if we cared for anything to drink and to review the specials and explain their menu as this was our first time there. We all ordered the same which was the double porterhouse to share with onion rings, (yummy), mushrooms, and scalloped potatoes (double yum, but they needed onions and pepper). The steaks were done to a turn, all medium rare and beautifully seasoned. The dessert that was recommended was their butter cake and it came with a huge side of whipped cream, which we didn't even make a dent in. The cake was rich and tasty but I would pass on it next time. Just a bit rich for me. That is not to say it wasn't delicious and that others might not enjoy. I have not one complaint to make from the moment we walked in the door to my brief visit to the mens room where Alphonse, a nice young man handed me a towel to dry my hands. This is one dining experience you do not want to miss! Mastro's will be on my dining list wherever they have a location.

Mastro's, Scottsdale, is a steak house with an active and loud bar, white clothed tables, and a very attentive weight staff. The food that is served with good sized portions, and a quality product. The sushi was very good, as was the king crap claws, and the Alaskan halibut. The side dishes are sufficient to share, and the sugar snap peas were excellent. The menu pricing is not inexpensive, and much the normal wine list is reasonably priced; the reserved wine list is a significant step up in cost. However, the real treat for those of us who have served in the military, is that bringing some identification or your dog tags, will create an entry into their computer listing in Mastro's and the Ocean Club, and produces a 30% discount off of the food. Thus a $48 steak will only cost $32. The other good thing is that the restaurant serves food late into the evening, which is rare in Scottsdale.

Nice, atmosphere, friendly and efficient service and great food. Wait staff is really knowledgeable about food and wine. Wine list is deep and varied. Steaks are great although the majority are larger than I was inclined to tackle. Also, the baked potato is advertised at one pound but can be shared. All in all, Mastro is what I look for in an upscale steak house and we would go back.

My wife and I recently visited the Phoenix area for a week and were looking forward to an over the top steak dinner at Mastro's. We have visited Mastro's in other cities and expected a similar experience here, we were wrong.

We should have known when we first walked in and the two hostesses had their noses buried in the reservation screen. No greeting, no smile, no nothing. Just take the name, walk you to a table and return to the front.

Having been to a Mastro's before, we knew that portions are considerable, so we started with a shared spinach salad, we wanted to make it to dessert and the butter cake. Spinach salad was just ok, bacon/vinegar dressing should have been warm, per our tastes.

Next we both ordered the bone in filet mignon, what a disappointment, and we shared a baked potato. The meat was not flavorful at all and my wife and I both left a portion of the steak. Curiously, neither one of us complained to the other about the meal not being that good since we both thought it was only our meal that didn't taste good. We would have said something to the waiter but he didn't show until we had put our utensils down. Dessert was passed on because both of us were experiencing sour stomachs.

We left wondering how this restaurant gets such high marks.

Definitely would not return or recommend this location.
