We just stayed there for a week through interval international. The TVs in our room were from 1990. No amenities at all. We HAD TO PAY for wi-fi for EACH devise. Staff is nice. Location is very good for Scottsdale. The pool is very blah. Could use a snack bar or something.

Room Tip: Request a renovated room, a must!

What great service! I had golf clubs shipped, my son dropped off food and kids toys 2 days before arrival and the front desk stored everything and maintenance delivered to our unit. I have been staying here for nearly 10 years and it keeps getting better. Units have been remodeled, kids huge pool area built, plenty of grills, and pavilions equipped with TVs. Spacious & clean units with separate bedroom(s) and sleeper sofa. Even if I could afford 500-600 a night for Scottsdale Princess or Troon why would I want to be in same room with my younger son when my wife and I could be alone and make the family vacation a couples get away as well. Did I mention it's less expensive than the other places? 3 times the square feet for less than 1/2 the cost. It adds up to value. No restaurant on site is no problem. I'm from Iowa and when I'm down there I want to grill and then eat on the veranda and either watch the sunset or the moon come up over the McDowell mountains.
Besides the kids pool (and still a separate adults pool) the staff does activities with the kids. The staff makes you feel at home without all the stiffness and formality of those other places. The front desk takes care of all your needs - no need to talk to customer service or supervisors because there are no problems.
I can't tell you which unit I like the best because I'm selfish and don't want anyone else requesting it when I might be there next year.

Thank you continuing to stay with us for all these years! We were extremely delighted to hear that our front desk staff provided exceptional customer service in regard to storing your son’s supplies before arrival. They are always willing to go the extra mile to make our guests feel more at home when staying here. Your continued business with us, as well as, your recommendation is truly appreciated, and we look forward to another 10 years (and longer!) of providing the same level of comfort and relaxation for you and your family.

This resort is one of the resorts open to us under Diamond Resorts. It was a condo development previously. The units are very clean and very spacious. The resort is very convenient to Scottsdale and Phoenix. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Be aware that it is very near the Scottsdale Airport which is very busy with small and very loud jets all day. If you can deal with the noise, it is a good place to stay. However, be aware that they actually charge for Wi-Fi! We have stayed in budget hotels that had free Wi-Fi. Gosh, even airports have free Wi-Fi.

Stayed here first two weks of February 2013. Found rooms to be in great shape, staff very accomadating, location great - walking distance to TPC Scottsdale both Stadium and Champions course. Fitness room well equipped, guests quiet. Pool is large (closed for maintainence while we were there, reopened before we left but weather too cold to use the pool) and well maintained. We'd go there again without hesitation.

We really couldn't find much to complain about. The pool was so nice and warm; the unit was clean and comfortable; we were glad to have a washer and dryer (even though it had to be repaired) and we had a nice view. My only complaint was that there was no complimentary wifi! Even the lower priced hotels now have it! There were two computers to use in the lobby, which were always available.

Room Tip: Ask for a 2nd or 3rd floor if you don't mind climbing steps. If you're on the first floor...

Thank you for your review – we’re delighted to read that you enjoyed your recent stay at the Scottsdale Links Resort!

We’re sorry to read your concerns about the Wi-Fi service, however. Please allow us to explain that as the Scottsdale Links Resort is a vacation ownership property rather than a hotel, in order to offer free Wi-Fi we would need to incorporate the costs into our annual maintenance charges and rental costs, which would effectively charge those guests who chose not to use the internet during their stay.

We hope that this issue didn’t mar an otherwise enjoyable stay, and we hope you’ll consider us for future vacations!

We had a good time, and would go again in a renovated suite. This resort is not luxury, it is just pleasant and clean. If you expect more you will be disappointed. The renovated suites are perfectly acceptable. Clean. Spacious. Kitchen is well equipped. Beds are comfortable, not superior. Linens and towels are OK, not luxurious. Living area furniture is uncomfortable to sit on. If you are a couch potato you won't like the sofa.Fan for heat/ac is much noisier than usual. Internet ( at your own extra cost) is problematic because the signal is frequently too low. The fact that internet is extra cost is made known at booking time, one can't really complain about this after arrival. The pool and hot tub are just as shown on the photos and description. If you are not fit enough to carry bags to 2nd or 3rd level, ask for main floor unit. No elevators.Staff are anxious to please and super friendly and curteous. We were never pressured for a timeshare talk. It's simple, you just say no, thank you.
I would have concerns in an unrenovated unit. Staff told me 75 % of the property is now renovated. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby ( by car). The Scotsdale area is wonderful overall, with something for everyone. Driving and traffic was quiet and easy in Jan, but I would imagine quite different at peak holiday times.

Room Tip: Request a renovated suite.( as of January 2013 I was informed that 75% of the property is renovated...

We’re pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at the Scottsdale Links Resort – thank you for your review! You’re correct that the resort is currently undergoing a program of refurbishment, and we’ll make every effort to allocate a refurbished apartment if our guests request one. (Please be aware that we’re unfortunately not able to guarantee that we’ll be able to do so, however.)

We hope you’ll choose to return here for another vacation, and we look forward to seeing you again!

A colleague and I stayed in a 2 bedroom unit. Luckily we were there primarily for work, otherwise we would have been deeply disappointed with this so-called "Resort". I have visited many DRI timeshare properties, and this is the most drab and depressing of all. It has no resort feel to it whatsoever. It is more like a humdrum apartment complex, and I suspect it may have started out as such. It is a collection of dreary, monolithic brown apartment buildings with no landscaping to add charm or relieve the institutional feel of the place. The apartments are 3 stories with no elevators, so you have a 33% chance of being stuck in a 3-story walk-up. (Luckily we were on ground floor, which I requested in advance because I have bum knees.) While all units have patios or balconies, there is nothing pleasant to look at from them, just more dreary dark walls. The pools and BBQ area are tucked away invisibly behind the front office, not centrally located or spread in pockets across the property as in most resorts, so even that does not provide any visual relief from the ugly monotony of the place.

Once inside, the unit itself was comfortable and spacious. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. Kitchen appliances and pots/pans were of good quality, and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils, though the knives were terrible. (Thick and dull to the point of being not only frustrating but potentially dangerous to use.) The heater/air conditioner was so noisy that we often turned it off for relief from the racket. TV service was terrible - while the main TV had HD capacity, the actual service was analog, and most shows had a videotaped looked to them. We also could not find the usual menu function anywhere on the channels or remote, so there was no way to see what was on without scrolling through the channels.

Our other big gripe was price gouging for WiFi - they charge $29.95 PER DEVICE for WiFi connection for the week. Each of us arrived with a laptop for business and a tablet computer for casual use - that adds up to $119.80 for the two of us to have WiFi on both our devices for the week. There's no excuse for this except greed. Many resorts set up WiFi connectivity on a per-room/unit, not per-device basis, or even include it at no cost.

There are many other hotels, resorts and timeshares in this area, including DRI's own Villa Mirage nearby, so I would recommend looking elsewhere instead of Scottsdale Links "Resort".

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your recent stay here at Scottsdale Links Resort. We always strive to deliver exceptional hospitality, provide exceptional services, and offer quality accommodations to each guest that stays with us. It was very concerning, after reading your review, that we did not meet these expectations in regard to your stay. As we are located close to several nearby golf courses, many of our units provide exceptional views of these golf courses along with the nearby mountains. You are correct in stating that we were originally built as an apartment complex. That is also why we have very spacious units, which is not always found in other resorts. The color of the buildings is meant to blend in with the desert landscaping. The property has many types of foliage. However, a lot of the vegetation is dormant or endured frost damage from the recent hard freeze. Our front desk would have been more than happy, when advised at the time the issue occurred, to look into your kitchen utensils. The TV Channel guide was removed by the cable provider. We have requested that this be returned. In addition, we are currently looking into providing HD service to the TVs. Please be advised that we do not profit or collect the fees related to Wi-Fi. These fees are charged by a 3rd party vendor. That being said, we have received a lot of feedback in regard to Wi-Fi costs, and have been in discussion with our Homeowner’s Association to see if this can be covered for guests in the future. We always try to meet guest requests for ground floor units when available, however, due to the costs involved, we do not have any plans on installing elevators in the near future. In regard to the BBQ and pool area, we do have plans to install another BBQ area in the center of the property for guest convenience. If you are willing to give us another chance, we are extremely confident that your next stay with us will be much more enjoyable and even exceed your expectations. We sincerely appreciate your business with us and wish you the best on all your future travels.
