“Great Stay for family”

We just returned from our stay here. The hotel is located in a business park setting, golf course and some apartment homes, but it is a very pretty property and quiet. The rooms are very spacious, as we traveled with 2 children. We had a room on the ground floor in the West Wing that had a patio facing some of the golf course and apartment homes bordering that. There was a refrigerator in our room, so stashing breakfast groceries was easy.

The service was great all around, no complaints. The concierge desk was able to direct us to two hiking trailheads and were easily able to get there and hike both Pinnacle Peak and McDowell Mountain Preserve trails with younger children.

The only downside of the hotel is that planes fly right over the golf course on the South side of the property. I took a walk in the South Wing and can say that our room did not get a lot of the airplane noise that the South Wing did, so keep that in mind. Overall, the property was quiet and we only heard a bit of door closing noise and the lawnmowers at the golf course about 7:30 am.

There is a great heated pool, small but well maintained fitness room and restaurant/bar on the property. I read that you can get an in room massage, but anything else they would have to direct you to the nearest spa.

The restaurant was good, but not great and a little pricey. We had fish tacos and hamburgers for 4 and spent over $70.

We were able to drive about 2 miles in any direction to eat at many local and chain restaurants such as Wildflower Bread, Paradise Bakery and Cafe, Habaneros and The Mission and had great and amazing food.

Overall, we would stay here again, easy access to any store needed but the great outdoors as well. Wonderful setting as well.

Room Tip: The West Wing facing the golf course and apartment homes did not give a view of McDowell Mountain, b...

We usually stay at the Camelback but could not get in. We had some business in northern PHX and we find Desert Ridge to be nice but too large to navigate at times so we found this place. The rooms are quite spacious and well finished. The bathroom was nicer than most Marriotts. The separate living room allowed us to entertain some old friends and the views out onto the golf course and desert were peaceful. We saw bunnies, lots of birds, and even enjoyed seeing the occasional small plane take off. The balcony off the room at night was beautiful for star gazing. Staff was great. Breakfast buffet was nice. We don't golf but it looked like people were enjoying it. While this does not have the overall panache of Camelback Inn, it was a real pleasure and we would stay again. I think the grounds might benefit from some more and varied flowers, but I am not implying that the grounds are not well kept! Thanks to all of the staff for a great stay!

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights to attend a local wedding and had a wonderful experience! The rooms are all suite style and very spacious! We had a view of the mountains so that was a big plus! Front desk and restaurant/bar staff very pleasant. The hotel appears to be located in a business park, but don't let that fool you - the back of the property has wonderful views of the McDowell Mountains!

Room Tip: Request a mountain view room!

We stayed here a few weeks ago for a family gathering. The hotel was lovely and the staff extremely friendly. Our only complaint was the lack of free WIFI. We only ate in the hotel for the party and the food at this event was very good. The atmosphere and outdoor patio attached to the ballroommade for great ambiance.

Be aware that there is a very busy executive airport within 500 yards of this hotel so it is noisy!

We stayed here for 2 nights on vacation in Feb. 2013. They charge for internet in rooms (and only offer wired). There is free wifi in lobby. Lobby is really the bar and restaurant as there is very limited seating otherwise. We stayed in 3 other hotels on this vacation that all provided free wifi (El Tovar in Grand Canyon, Amara Resort in Sedona, La Quinta in Scottsdale) and each hotel was significantly lower price. Marriott needs to get with the times.

The service at breakfast was very slow even though it was a buffet for $20 per person. On arrival at 2pm there was nobody at bell stand to help with bags. Our friends had a 65 pound one to manage.

We stayed our first night at La Quinta in Scottsdale. There is a nice pool area and free wifi and free breakfast for a reasonable rate. We all said we should have stayed there again over this.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet one away from the airport!

We stayed At this hotel for 6 days in January as it was very convenient to our friends. The staff was fabulous. They made us feel very, very welcome. it rained for several days and the staff gave my husband a free totes umbrella. My husband bought breakfast each day. The waitresses made sure he was more than happy and gave him extras. On the last evening our plane left at midnight, so management let us remain in our room until 7:00 pm.at no additional charge.
Our room was very nice and comfortable. All of the rooms are suites so there is a separate living room with French doors separating it from the bedroom. We always like a lot of towels which housekeeping kept us well supplied. Since the weather was horrendous for 6 days, we could not enjoy the outside pool area.
This hotel is mostly booked by business people. It is a large hotel but it is really not one of Scottsdale's family resorts which are more costly. I would stay here again.
