“Phoenician for Christmas”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2014

We stayed here for a few days over Christmas to celebrate my son’s college graduation. It is a pricey resort so we used points to pay for the room. I thought this was a good deal, but I don’t think I would want to pay retail for the room. The grounds are very nice and fairly large. Included on the grounds are the pools, a bocce ball court and a croquet court, a cactus garden and of course golf. We enjoyed the pool, bocce court and cactus gardens which were decorated with lights for Christmas. We did not make reservations for Christmas Eve or Christmas dinner in advance so there was not any availability. If you plan to come over Christmas and want to dine in one of the main restaurants, make a reservation in advance. The room was very large as was the bathroom which was great since we had our two adult boys with us. The room also had a large balcony which enabled us to enjoy the view and our sons to talk in privacy on their cell phones. Service at the hotel was very good as expected. Check-in was fast and friendly and the lobby staff was happy to take photos of our family in the lobby in front of the Christmas trees and ginger bread house. One last touch which I enjoyed was the hand delivery of Christmas cookies to our room on Christmas Eve!

Room Tip: We had a room that overlooked the pool area. It was quite nice and I would recommend it.

The room we were given had big stains on the carpet and was worn. We called the front desk and they had another room we could move to. That room had the same dirty and stained carpet. We checked 3 more rooms and ended up choosing the room that had the carpet with the least amount of stains. One front desk clerk was very nice and another was rude. Keep in mind that each time we went to see a room - we then had to go back to the front desk and wait in a long line to talk to a front desk clerk again. This process took about an hour and a half and they lost our luggage in the meantime.
On the positive side - the rooms were large and would have been lovely with new or cleaned carpet. The bathrooms are large and have a lot of counter space.
The property grounds are beautiful and there is much to do. Swim, tennis and golf filled our days. We ate at J & G Steakhouse and it was outstanding - we would go back any chance we could!

Thank you for sharing your comments. While we are disappointed to learn of your dismay with the guestroom carpeting, your personal feedback serves as an important measurement tool regarding our daily operations. I can assure you that such conditions are not indicative of the luxury accommodations for which we are known. Both Management and our Housekeeping Department are looking into the matter to make sure our extensive and detailed cleaning standards are being met. We are glad that you enjoyed J&G Steakhouse, as well as the numerous signature activities available to our guests. We hope you will visit us again, so that we may demonstrate to you the impeccable service and quality for which we are consistently recognized.

The Staff, especially Chris (Hotel Manager) and Hannah (Front Desk) were amazing. They both ensured that we had the best experience. We stayed at the main building (nicer than the other rooms), and had the mountain view. The Hotel lobby, the view, the staff and the amenities are Five Star; the rooms are nice and clean, but not as great as the rest of the Hotel. Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay, and we have Chris and Hannah to Thank for it.

Room Tip: Ask for the Main Lobby and Mountain / Golf Course View

My wife was on a business trip and I came along, Wow what a set up, as soon as you drive in this resort you notice how special it is. The grounds are spectacular, the service from check in on was the best we have ever received anywhere. My wife's company meeting at the hotel was top notch. Our room was perfect, bed comfortable, nice soaker tub, patio with view of golf and mountain. It truly was a desert resort, can't wait to return and would highly recommend this resort.

This was my third or fourth stay, and it never disappoints. About a year ago I commented on the guest survey that coffee makers should be in each room, but upon my return there are Keurigs in each, with ample refill capacity.
All facilities are impeccably maintained and modernized and the staff is unfailingly gracious. I shall not need to look around for alternates in Phoenix or Scottsdale.

Room Tip: The Casitas are well located, quiet, and obviate the need for any parking fee at all, much less the...

Wow, the Phoenician is truly a 5 star property. Immaculate in nearly every sense of the word. Grounds perfectly kept, beautiful rooms, excellent staff, spectacular rooms.

Tips:
-24 on site limo service with very reasonable rates.
-Room service has a 22% service fee AND a delivery charge

Food is pricey, but we didn't have a single bad meal.

Room Tip: Casitas are excellent
