~The Phoenician has been an incredible experience from fine dining to a beautiful hike to the ultimate spa experience.. We stayed a week and took advantage of their little perks like the Hike; WOW what an adventure, my group pushed ourselves hard and then FELT it the next day :D just in time for a glorious massage.. We did the aquatic YOGA as well, thats the easiest.. They have 4 levels of YOGA <3
~The staff was SO helpful, i heard MY PLEASURE so many times and of coarse each and every one of them remembered my name the FIRST TIME and addressed me directly the whole stay.. i am so grateful to Maher in housekeeping and Marli by the pool.. Down to earth and pleasant <3

Room Tip: ~the property is very spacious, take a tour to find your little nook :D

The Phoenician has a very old-world style but even though I generally prefer a more modern look I enjoyed the pools, as well as the fire-pits outside the bar area at night. Service was great - super-friendly and helpful staff!

Had a lovely Mommy-Getaway w/ my dear friend. Loved the resort - had been there before which is why I chose it! Be sure to take the short walk from the hotel to the Cholla Trail of Camelback Mountain for a 1.5-2 hour hike with amazing views of Scottsdale. A great morning work-out, not for the faint of heart! Then back to the hotel for their amazing buffet breakfast!! Omelets to order, smoked salmon, all the delicious treats of the morning! The pool serves lovely food and drinks which is where we spent our afternoons after shopping at Kierland (20 min drive) or the nearby Fashion Plaza. The Spa was lovely as well and I would highly recommend the Phoenician for any type of relaxing getaway!! BTW, the MOST COMFY beds - ever!!!

The Phoenician is a luxury resort, to say the least. From the luxurious rooms, awesome pools, or the spectacular staff. Everything at the resort has the "Phoenician" branding from the water bottles to the towels with the hotel's logo to the bags with a hotel's logo. I don't even know where to start! When you pull into the lobby, bellman open your doors, take your luggage, and even give you Phoenician branded water with the hotel's logo! We arrived at around 1:00 p.m. and they were able to rush the room and get it by around 2:30 to 3:00ish. In the meantime, we went to Relish Burger Bistro, which was fantastic by the way (our family of 4 only needed 2 burgers we realized afterwards), where we were waited on by the awesome and helpful Rachel. She helped us a lot to kind of get to know the area! It is helpful to know that the resort does provide golf carts to shuttle guests around the property since it is so huge-- we had one take us to Relish from the lobby.

We had a guest casita room, which was incredible. The spacious bathroom included a huge marble shower, a large soaking tub, double vanity, and a water closet with a toilet and bade. However, we were disappointed that our room wasn't conveniently facing the pool, rather, it was facing the golf course, which was ok too. The large outdoor patio included a chaise lounge as well as a set of table and chairs.

We all really enjoyed the pools! There is a huge, elaborate pool complex which is basically made up of 3 levels. The top level, which has 3 pools and a kiddie pool. The middle pool is one large pool that the resorts splits in half-- one side is family friendly and the other is adult only. Finally, you have the bottom level with the water slide pool and the fantastic Mother of Pearl Pool which is all tile with the Phoenician logo in the middle, which was our favorite. The kids loved the slide which was wild at the end and gave everyone a few injuries. We especially enjoyed George Alexander the slide attendant! Now the pool situation can be a bit frustrating. Half of the chairs are in the shade, which is a problem for people like us who want the sun.

However, there is one catch to the pool situation which was annoying, and would bring the hotel's rating down. Large businesses rent out parts of the pool complex so the guests can't get near the lawn with their event. During our stay, they rented out 3 of the pools including the Mother of Pearl Pool! Now this really ticked me off. Why would a hotel let a business rent out a pool and block it off from their guests who rightfully paid for it!!!?? That is just wrong-- the guests should be the priority, not the businesses! But in the end, this is a management problem, and the staff can't do anything about it-- this is the manager and owner's fault.

On the other hand, all the staff we encountered did put the guests first. EVERYONE was so kind and helpful! Everyone always asked how our stay was and what they could do to make it better! I should've told them that they should open up the pools that they closed for the businesses!

Overall, the hotel and grounds are gorgeous and staff is very helpful as well. The view looking back towards Camelback Mountain is breathtaking! I'm sure I left plenty out but I tried to cover a lot. I do definitely recommend Scottsdale Fashion Square for shopping (it's a mile down the road). It was also worth the drive to the Kierland Commons up north. Additionally, we took a drive to Sedona and it was so worth it! It is a must do if you've never done it before!

Room Tip: Get a Casita.

Without doubt the views from the property are amazing and amenities were most likely top notch 'in the day'. This property looks and feels as if it was once an gem and has been holding onto a heyday long gone. It truly has the makings of a gorgeous hotel however the cream marble and brass fixtures mixed with some of the newer pieces, accentuate even further what is out of date. Handrails throughout the property were wet with paint during our visit, so obviously the 40th coat when replacing them would provide an aesthetic upgrade and tactile confirmation.

Upon arriving our room was changed from the first floor (where there was loud construction) to the third floor. After a walk down a very long hallway, that had no lights and still surrounded by machine noise, we arrived to a half update room. Request a room closer to the elevator. Apparently, the third floor had been used for a convention/meeting rooms recently and they were putting furniture back together and cleaning up wet carpets. Perhaps this is why things didn't match in our room - three different eras of lamps and incongruous art?

Car service and valet were stellar. They were prompt and helpful with information about the area and able to give us an idea how long to get where we were going each time. Bell service was confused with our room change and I ended up going back to get my luggage to bring to the room myself.

Housekeeping began knocking at 8 a.m. and came back every 20 minutes - even after asking that they come in the afternoon. Several items in our mini bar were stale and out of date - a bummer when you are hungry for a snack and have acquiesced to mini bar rates for convenience.

The golf courses looked pristine and the hotel guests seemed to be mostly older folks and families. The children's pool was busy while the adult pool was moderately populated with Ricky Martin on the radio and men drinking cans of beer in the pool playing water basketball.

A trip to the spa was telltale that this is not the touted 5 diamond resort & spa that it once was even though the pricing (which is elevated on the weekends regardless of being a hotel guest). Manicure pedicure services are in the hair salon while the 2nd floor of the spa is reached by an industrial "wood" formica elevator. Not a recommendation. We booked elsewhere after canceling our appointments.

The gym was clean and the equipment looked new and well kept; floor to ceiling glass made the small space seem airy and inviting.

The food was excellent at JG Steakhouse and the bar and live entertainment excellent. I would definitely recommend the restaurant, bar and the ability to sit outside next to the fire pits with a cocktail. Service at JG was top notch - attentive and personable without being intrusive.

Not a bad hotel - just not as fabulous as the website leads you to believe.

Room Tip: Third floor - near an elevator - the hallways are *very* long

This is my second time to Scottsdale and first time at The Phoenician. Overall my boyfriend and I really, really liked the property and our stay.

The space itself is beautiful and Camelback provides a great view. We received an upgraded room prior to checking in and also received some coupons for breakfasts and dinner upon check-in, which was great. (This may be through a Starwood frequent member type program, I'm not sure.) We had a corner room that was a two-room suite, which was really spacious and included two bathrooms. The only negative was that it was a bit far from the pool and restaurants. The bed and turn-down service was great though!

The pool area was great and included 8 pools with one adult relaxation pool. My only suggestion would be to have more adult pools and just a few reserved for kids. The adult pool was shaded most of the day so it was mostly families instead of some quiet that we were hoping for. There was no wait for chairs and the staff brought out a pitcher of water right away and kept it filled all day, which was great. The waitstaff was really friendly, but a few more servers probably would have been helpful as there was a bit of a wait for food/drinks. We ate lunch by the pool each day and the menu and food was good.

I wasn't as huge a fan of the dinner options at the restaurants on-premise, but I did enjoy the live music by the lounge/bar at night. We headed into Scottsdale for dinner two nights and had really blah meals at two places that had great reviews, which was surprising. The cabs seemed really pricey for the distance ($29 for a ride that was maybe three miles?!) and the places were really not worth it. (We went to Wildfish and Roka Akor.)

The spa treatments were overall really good, though not cheap. The spa itself was pretty nice, but lacked much outside of the treatments itself. There is a meditation room, which is basically an outdoor quiet area with nice chairs. There was also a steam room and jacuzzi, but it left a little to be desired. I had an excellent treatment with Sara and highly recommend her.

Overall a great stay and just what I was looking for - R&R. We're already planning to come back next fall.

My sisters and I always stay at least 2 nights at the Phoenician when we go to the desert. The food is incredible, the service is ok but what makes this resort a gem are the views. Staring at Camelback mountain while swimming at the pool or resting in a private cabana is all we need to feel at home. This is definitely one of our top 2 favorite resorts in Scottsdale.

Room Tip: Camelback Mountain view
