We stayed here in January 2011 for a long weekend leading up to the BCS National Title Game in nearby Glendale. We arranged with the resort for a car (SUV actually) to pick us up at the airport and drive us to the resort and this went off without a hitch. We put in for something called an e-standby upgrade request when we booked our room, and for not too much more money each night we were upgraded to a ridiculously large and awesome Gold Master Suite.

The suite was huge, with a large bedroom with its own sitting area, connected to a very large living room. The suite had 2 full bathrooms, 3 flat screen TVs hanging off the walls, and 2 separate decks. It was overkill for 2 people but sure was nice; it would be great for a slightly larger group or if you wanted to entertain.

We enjoyed the Gold perks, namely having breakfast each morning only a short walk away from our room, and the honor bar there each afternoon and evening.

This is a very big property and very well laid out and manicured. We ate at both restaurants on the property, Bourbon Steak and La Hacienda. Both were pretty good in our opinion though my wife got sick the morning / day after eating at La Hacienda so we suspect she might have gotten food poisoning there but we can't be sure. I was fine all weekend but she did have some stuff at the restaurant that I didn't have. In any event we would visit the restaurant again in the future as the food is very good and hard to say what happened.

We visited the spa as well which is very nice and spacious. The massage I got there wasn't that great, though, but probably just luck of the draw with the therapist. The locker room and treatment rooms are nice. The fitness room at the spa is very good.

All in all we enjoyed our visit. We've stayed at the Four Seasons Scottsdale before and loved that and I have to say we'd have to think hard about which of the two properties we would stay at again on our next visit, they're both great.

We stayed in a villa. Very spacious, plush bed. Pros - lots to do for kids, big pools, we were there for Santa and the tree lighting which was a blast (cookies, coco, fire engines, tons of lights -our daughter loved it), great food (the Mexican restaurant is unbelievable) great kids dining room with a play area that made dinner fun, excellent service, convenient golf. Close to kierland for shopping and more dining. Eat at north, grimaldis, and if you are a health nut -true food.

Cons - it is a huge resort, so try not to get lost, :) 15 mins or so from Scottsdale fashion square (the big mall with the best luxury shopping)-but this is not a huge inconvenience, the golf course was slightly disappointing for mu husband d/t bleacher (he preferred the boulders course by leaps and bounds);however he liked that it was convenient.

We will definitely stay again. Especially in nov as the tree lighting was super fun. Oh, and lost forgot, the steak house is out of control good. Expensive, but the wine list is one of the best in Scottsdale.

This is a wonderful, top of the class, resort. The property is gorgeous and vast.

I spend 5 nights at the beginning of December at this resort and it was a memorable experience. Right on arrival the bell boy greets you warmly, offer assistance and make sure you get to right place. We were given a casita (I used an FPC Premier upgrade certificate). The casita was at the end of the property. About 5-8 minutes walk to the main lobby.

We used self parking. There is a parking lot right by the casitas. However, at $10/night it is not a bargain.

The casita was wonderful. Decorated with a local accent, it a a fireplace (why in Arizona ?), a living room, two beds, a huge bathroom and a walking closet. The beds were very confortables. Nothing to say about housekeeping or maintenance; job well done in both cases.

There is small pool with a whirlpool in the casitas areas with really nice furniture. The pool is small relative to the huge South Pool (centrally located), but quieter. We used both. The South Pool is huge, nice and there is a snack-bar/bar at one end. You can spend the entire day at that pool ! There is also another pool with slides. We never used it.

Service is great all over except at Bourbon Steak. Breakfast, no buffet only a la carte, were really good and there was sufficient choice. Diner at the LV Bistro was very good. The Stone Rose bar is magnificient with fire pits and a view on the huge Christmas Tree. We especially enjoyed the La Hacienda for a Mexican diner. Bourbon food was great, but the service was really annoying. It is pushy. They clearly want to sell as many drinks as they can. They asked for drinks five times in couple of minutes. Annoying.

We also spend a day at the Willow Stream Spa. This is a world class facilty. Really. It's amazing. Worth spending a day even without treatment.

In summary, this is really a great resort worth going.

My wife and I stayed at the Fairmont Scottsdale for 15 nights in Dec 2010 and Jan 2011. We had a Gold level room and were very happy that we did as the Gold Lounge was only a short walk away and included a complimentary breakfast buffet every morning as well as Appetizers and an honour bar in the evenings. For such a long hotel stay it was very nice to not be eating at a restaurant every morning, Marty and all the other Fairmont Gold staff provided amazing service. We enjoyed both restaurants - La Hacienda and Bourbon Steak - very much. The hotel also has 3 large pools, one with waterslides, a spa, fitness area, and many walking paths.

The self parking is very convenient and the service all around the resort is up to the high standards Fairmont has set. The location is relatively convenient, towards the North of Scottsdale, near Kierland and with easy access to the 101. Also very close to many of Scottsdale's top golf courses such as TPC, Grayhawk, Troon North, Kierland and many more. Old Scottsdale is a fair drive away, but also overrated in my opinion.

The property was beautifully decorated for the holidays, is well manicured and clean, as are the rooms. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, it is now our Scottsdale hotel of choice.

Negatives - we had a TV in our room that stopped working once and was often unresponsive, but the other TV always worked just fine. Our key cards also stopped working twice, a minor issue but inconvenient in a resort of this size.

Beautiful room, fantastic grounds and great staff.

The bed was very comfortable with a firm mattress and high quality sheets. The bedroom and bathroom were both very spacious. Furniture was in good shape. Nice balcony.

The grounds were maintained perfectly. An army of staff pick up any stray leaves or other debris.

We enjoyed the La Hacienda restaurant. Great food and service. Not too pricey considering the location.

Found the $10 charge for self parking a bit irritating considering the location and price of the room.

Service--wonderful
Food and Restaurants--Outstanding. I highly recommend La Hacienda for a delicious Mexican meal.
Spa is absolutely amazing. If you book any service, be sure to go early or stay after to enjoy the aromatherapy and steam rooms and the waterfall hot tub. You will not want to leave, really.
Rooms and bathrooms--great size with all amenities. Beds are very comfortable.
Prices-High
Hotel layout--like a maze. Be sure to leave a breadcrumb trail. I cannot tell you how often I got lost just trying to find the lobby or breakfast area.
Location--a bit removed from any of the action.
