Stayed here between Xmas and New Year's with 2 girlfriends. We booked the room via Hotels.com and requested two double beds. When we got there, they said they were out of rooms with double beds and that they don't guarantee room requests from 3rd party vendors such as Hotels.com. Aside from that check-in issue, the rest of the staff was very attentive to our needs. Each time we called for something (e.g. Extra towels), they would later call to follow up and make sure that the request was fulfilled. The grounds were really nice but there is not much going on at the resort. You have to drive away from the resort for any activity and the resort becomes dead around 9pm. Parking at night was limited for self parking, and you were charged daily for parking regardless. Room was on the small side. Spa was very nice though!

Very big resort...beautiful grounds...stood in the casitas the renovated ones not the one with gas fireplace...pricey for what it was...I felt I was staying in a garden apt....so not worth it. would go back prefer main building.

Room Tip: casitas too pricey!!! not worth it...you'll feel like you're in a garden apt unit

We found the staff at the front desk as well as through-out the hotel to be professional and extremely helpful. However, the concierge gave us incorrect information on 2 separate occasions so we no longer trusted her. For instance, she was informed that we needed a UrgentCare facility for someone who was ill. She sent us to a place that was closed and difficult to locate.

The hotel was so spread out and confusing that most people at our conference spent time each day searching for their room or the next meeting. Although being lost was not so bad because the grounds were lovely.

We ate at 3 of the hotel restaurants and did not find the food to be very good. Would return to the hotel but not the restaurants.

Because I think that the bad outweighs the good at this resort, I have given it an "average" rating. I have mixed feelings about this resort and will just spell it out:

THE GOOD:
1. Staff is incredible. Seriously. We felt like the king and queen of some country. They just couldn't do enough for us, were over the top professional and always used our names. How did they do that?

2. The resort is beautiful and clean.

THE BAD:
1. This place nickels and and dimes you like crazy, so just be aware of it before you go. We got charged $5 for a bottle of water in our room. Although this is an upscale place, the internet costs $15 a day! No kidding. It's free at the Red Roof Inn. What's the deal. There is no complimentary paper in the morning outside your room. Even Embassy Suites does that. You have to buy a paper at the gift shop. They charged us $24 a day to valet park. On the last day, someone mentioned we could actually self park so we started doing that but got charged $10 a day to self park in the lot! Incredible. They also charged us $4 a day for maid services. I'm not kidding. And $24 for "luggage handling". Not sure what that was. Be afraid - be very afraid.

2. This won't matter for men but as a women traveler, the lighting in the bathroom was so dim it was hard to put on my makeup and there was no makeup mirror. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a place without a makeup mirror.

3. The shower was an open shower, which I hate. You never get a nice hot shower in one of those.

4. Although our casita had a fireplace and a wet bar and a big bathroom, the place felt dark and dreary and I wasn't sure the carpet was very clean. The bed was way too soft and so high I had a hard time getting into it every night.

5. My dinner at Bourbon Steak was shockingly poor. I had the scallops and they were not cooked right - the vegetables as an accompaniment were amateur at best.

Dear Cascio,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay with us. We greatly value your candid feedback. We are pleased to hear you were treated like royalty, which is our ultimate goal. With regards to the luggage handling fees, our apologies for any confusion, but those are only applicable to groups. They are negotiated by the meeting planner and typically communicated to attendees prior to arrival, which is standard practice for group bookings across luxury hotels. Luggage fees are not charged to individual leisure guests. Our sincere apologies if this was not the case. In regards to parking and Internet, many comparable hotels charge for this as part of an overall resort fee, however, our guests have the opportunity for complimentary Internet by registering for our guest loyalty program, Fairmont President's Club, which includes a variety of benefits. We sincerely appreciate your patronage and do hope you give us another opportunity to serve you.

Best regards,

Valerie Lee
Director of Public Relations

I was recently here for a conference and unfortunately the closest week for over 34 years! I was in meetings most day so not really an issue and the air conditioning wasn't so bad. This is a huge resort but it is so expensive particularly the wifi, coffee in the room, bars etc. The mass catering was poor and bland and have had better in Europe. If you had a shower past 7am it would be Luke warm. All my colleagues complained about this as well and the answer was that they were busy... That's frankly ridiculous. One day had dirty towels with some brown staining! Overall disappointing and with a standard room at $310 a night it is better to look elsewhere!
