“Delicious food and prompt service”
Reviewed December 1, 2013

Coming from the Northeast, I didn't know an authentic Mexican food from a self-proclaimed one. So, when we visited friends in Glendale, AZ and they invited us to a Mexican restaurant for lunch, we jumped at the opportunity thinking that finally we would experience a real Mexican fare.

The drive (our friend was driving) from Glendale to this restaurant seems like eternity because it was quite a distance from Glendale and it was raining and she didn't take Highway 17 but the local road. I thought my hunger will make any food tasty and maybe I wouldn't be in a position to tell the difference between the Mexican food here and the Mexican food in the Northeast.

Anyway, we got there and the rain and chilly weather outside was in stark contrast to the warm welcome we were greeted with when we stepped inside. The restaurant was almost full considering it was late lunchtime.

I ordered a house glass of Cabernet and beef fajitas. The service was prompt. The house wine was above average and the fajitas were tasty and succulent. No comparison to the Mexican food in the Northeast - this was really delicious and the serving was just enough for me. I couldn't say that for the ladies. They found their orders very tasty but were a little overwhelmed by the size of the serving. Perhaps they had their fill of the appetizers or they were just mindful of their weights.

Overall, it was one of the best lunches I had and a great experience, too and I am thankful that my friends brought us to this excellent restaurant. I wonder if dinner is double the experience,

“Great Mexican Food”
Reviewed November 25, 2013

Mexican food can be hit and miss, not at this place. Great food and lots of it. Either be very hungry or share the mains.

“We love everything about the Spotted Donkey”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

We've eaten here many times but I felt like pulling up the reviews to see what people were saying. The 5 stars is for the creativity and quality of the food, the atmosphere, the friendly service (thanks Troy and others), and the value. It's not the kind of restaurant where the wait staff repositions your napkin for you if you leave for the restroom. More fun than that, hence the 5 stars. Love a bar table for the Thursday night football games! There is no restaurant in the country that makes calamari better! So many good menu choices, choose anything! Extensive tequila offerings.

“Great food, slow service”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The food was very tasty. Service was very slow - maybe because we were a group of 20 plus. Otherwise a good restaurant and only 1 of 2 restaurants on property.

“Great dining experience!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

Had dinner at the Spotted Donkey with my family the other evening. Started out with margaritas, mango very good. Ordered chips and guacamole with salsa - excellent! Chips were fresh, warm and guacamole was terrific. For dinner, ordered the beef tacos - fabulous! Tacos were very tasty, flavorful, along with the rise and beans. For dessert, we all had the chocolate cake, which was huge and $9' but worth it - we shared it among the four of us. All in all, a pleasant dining experience, service great also!
