Coming from the Northeast, I didn't know an authentic Mexican food from a self-proclaimed one. So, when we visited friends in Glendale, AZ and they invited us to a Mexican restaurant for lunch, we jumped at the opportunity thinking that finally we would experience a real Mexican fare.
The drive (our friend was driving) from Glendale to this restaurant seems like eternity because it was quite a distance from Glendale and it was raining and she didn't take Highway 17 but the local road. I thought my hunger will make any food tasty and maybe I wouldn't be in a position to tell the difference between the Mexican food here and the Mexican food in the Northeast.
Anyway, we got there and the rain and chilly weather outside was in stark contrast to the warm welcome we were greeted with when we stepped inside. The restaurant was almost full considering it was late lunchtime.
I ordered a house glass of Cabernet and beef fajitas. The service was prompt. The house wine was above average and the fajitas were tasty and succulent. No comparison to the Mexican food in the Northeast - this was really delicious and the serving was just enough for me. I couldn't say that for the ladies. They found their orders very tasty but were a little overwhelmed by the size of the serving. Perhaps they had their fill of the appetizers or they were just mindful of their weights.
Overall, it was one of the best lunches I had and a great experience, too and I am thankful that my friends brought us to this excellent restaurant. I wonder if dinner is double the experience,
