Admittedly, Old Scottsdale is geared toward the tourist, however there is really a range of merchandise and restaurants for just about everyone. Of course, you'll find a lot of turquoise and western wear, but you will also find many unique things to look at too. If you are in the area, a walk through Old Town Scottsdale is a must!

area is appointed with old West landscape. Lots of shops and a short walk to the art galleries. Numerous sidewalk bars and restaurants. perfect for souvenirs, including the requisite rubber tomahawk, etc.

This is a small group of buildings, on a few blocks, that are connected by a free shuttle bus (or a nice stroll). I shopped at a store that catered to people who liked angels, and one for cat people. I also went to some that sold authentic Indian art. I also visited the very interesting little history museum. Some of the stores are big and classy art galleries, and others are old, a bit worn and independently owned. There are also very good restaurants in the area. Check out their Art Walk calendar too.

We expected this are of Scottsdale to be fun and cool, but it was really touristy and filled with cheesy gift shops. Perhaps we missed the better parts of downtown Scottsdale, but I wasn't impressed with Old Town.

Now mostly a tourist trap, this was once a quaint part of town. Still fun to wander and there are art shows and a farmer's market than are up at times. I liked the shop called "Kactus Jock", not to be confused with Cactus Jack, which is nearby. It's run by a nice, helpful woman and has lots of interesting things.
The Giants ballpark is the best part.
