While it will become obvious in the review, I like this place.
I actually ended up there twice last week. The location had gone through several restaurants in the past couple of years, but EVO looks like the real deal.
I first stopped in Sunday night for a light snack and a glass of wine. My friend and I shared the fried risotto balls served in a red sauce. It was outstanding. While they have a great bottle wine selection, everything you really need you can get at an incredible price from their "tap" wines. Yes, poured out of a tap just beer, but that did not diminish the quality or the presentation.
My second experience was last Friday at happy hour. They have a wonderful happy hour menu, and great beer and wine prices. I tried the happy hour peperoni pizza. I wouldn't say it was to die for, but it was way better than most. A few more peperoni slices would probably make it better, but for $7 it was a deal.
Sunday night was pretty quiet, which you would expect during August in Scottsdale. But, at happy hour on Friday the bar was full. The crowd was 30 to 40 ish, active and professional. It was a great experience.
There are lots of choices in Old Town Scottsdale, but Evo just jumped to the top of my list.
