This is not really considered in the top tier of trendy Scottsdale restaurants, maybe because the Westin is large and more family oriented than some of the more exclusive resorts. Arrival is certainly not very dramatic, in contrast to a place like Elements at Sanctuary. After fighting your way through the busy lobby you descend a large staircase in an atrium, though there is great art to look at. The actual dining space is upscale but not cutting edge. However, if you want great food at a bargain then this place is worth it!
Wine list is heavy on South America which is of course really great, and a flight of white wines came in a great holder and progressed nicely from sweet to dry, loved it. It drives me crazy to gut mediocre or even bad bread at expensive restaurants, but Deseo has wonderful jalepeno corn bread, really tasty. We live nearby and every time we come the food is perfectly cooked and has authentic latin preparations. Even the humble quesadilla is really wonderful. Service is great and for this level of cooking the price is very, very reasonable. I highly recommend. They return from Summer vacation Sept 3 I think.
