Formerly Sanctuary GC at Westworld. New ownership includes Phil Mickelson. Re designed course has a great layout. Some very challenging shots for the lower handicaps. Not too difficult from shorter tees (my wife played and loved it). Plenty of bunkers, waste areas and long par 4s. Course was in great condition. Even with the summer heat it did not (yet) have stress/brown grass areas. I played TPC the day earlier and they had plenty of dead spots. Great summer values on golf now.com. But would be worth playing at full fare. Will definitely play it again.

First, the new owners did a wonderful job on the remodel of the clubhouse. There is a beautiful patio over looking the covered driving range. Now to the food...We ordered three entrees: Cobb Salad, Sante Fe Chicken Sandwich, and the Tuna Melt sandwich. The Cobb was just average with old bacon, avocado, tomatoes and blue cheese. The Santa Fe sandwich was just average also. The Tuna Melt was almost tasteless. One side per sandwich...we had Sweet Potato Fries and Fruit...agan average. The atmosphere outshines the food by far. Service was good. Pricy for what you get...our bill with tip was over $50. However, I give kudos for the effort.

My course was closed for our Member/Guest so decided to try McDowell Mountain, based on our Pro's recommendation. This is the former Santuary Course that was purchased a couple of years ago by a group that included 'Lefty'. They have made a number of improvements to the course and clubhouse that former players will find agreable. Because I was playing with my wife, I decided to play from the Gold/White Combos at 6,100 yards. Lots of challenges with bunkers and rolling fairways. Greens in good condition. Wife and a good round and enjoyed the experience.

We stopped by for a late lunch and had a wonderful, reasonable meal on the patio with great service. The Mahi-Mahi tacos were wonderful and the onion rings are great, too. This course has a covered driving range, a challenging putting and chipping area, and beautiful views of the Fountain Hills area and Camelback Mtn. It s nestled in a house-dense area so watch those long drives! Course is refreshed and in good form. Highly recommend the newly updated, Phil Mickelson owned, McDowell Mtn. ranch golf club.

We stayed in downtown Scottsdale and this course was just a short drive up the 101. The course itself is beautiful and in great shape. The staff is terrific, very friendly and accommodating. We had booked a twilight tee time and played 18 in four hours and ten minutes. We were teeing off on 18 when the sun was setting so we were able to get a whole round in. The course was a great value comparatively speaking - twilight greens fees for two with cart, two sets of Callaway Razr rental clubs was about $220. One tripadvisor review mentioned the power lines, which are huge and many and do run through the center of the course. But they are never in play and honestly you just don't notice them after a while - no issue for us. We would definitely play here again.
