My husband and I have been coming to this resort and spa for the last couple of years now and it never disappoints! We were there for our babymoon in September and had an amazing time! The service and amenities ie. Spa, golf, pools etc. we thoroughly enjoyed! It is also walking distance to shops and some great restaurant and bars! We walked everywhere and left our car parked the entire stay! The best part about the Westin Kierland is that it is a family friendly resort so we can continue coming here every year with our baby girl!

We stayed here in May for 3 nights and had a great experience. The hotel is well appointed with great service and staff. If you have children, it is very kid friendly as well with many activites for all ages. The pools are lovely and it is nice that they have one for adults while the other pool is for families. There are water slides, the lazy river, and flowrider with plenty of bar service as well.

I will say that the hotel is large and busy with several conventions going on at once so if you are looking for more of a boutique hotel, this is not the place for you. Deseo, the high end South American restaurant in the hotel was fabulous! We ate there twice. I had a treatment at the spa which was also beautiful. The only issue I had was when they misplaced my golf clubs while bringing them over from the hotel to the course. It was resolved quickly.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay there again!

My husband and I were told by our son that there would be nothing to do for us in Scottsdale. Was he ever mistaken! The property was gorgeous, and our studio was well appointed and very clean. Allen, our concierge, welcomed us to the resort helping us plan two excursions and recommending restaurants. We visited Sedona on our own, and then went on a march through the McDowells with Belal part of the hotel "fun team." Belal was knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area. We also visited the Botanical Gardens.
The highlight of the trip was Chef Jason's Grilling Class 101-we learned to grill appetizer pizzas, a lettuce salad, five proteins and two desserts. We were both stuffed; my husband actually used some of Jason's recipes for my Mother's Day meal.
We also went to the Wednesday night wine dinner which included spectacular pairings of wines and foods. Again, we were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the resort food! Three cheers for the chefs!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking golf course might be preferable for some people; there are also rooms overlooking...

Green Features: The resort has recycling bins throughout the facility as well as in the individual suites.

We own a 2 bedroom lock off unit at another Starwood property. We exchanged into a 2 bedroom unit at the Western Kierland Villas. Everyone staying at the Villas has full access to the amenities at the Villas and at the Westin Kierland Hotel and Spa.
The villas are very spacious and have lovely balconies with high end built in patio furniture. The Westin heavenly beds are marvelous and the bathrooms and kitchens are beautiful and well-equipped. The only improvement would be having a real oven. The kitchen had a 4 burner cooktop but we had to make do with a microwave/convection oven. There are however lovely gas grills with included grill utensils scattered throughout the Villas property.
The pool courtyard is very beautiful and included outside fireplaces and upscale cushioned seating arrangements. There were 2 pools....one large recreation pool complete with volleyball and a water slide and a beautiful relaxation pool for adults. There was ample permanent shade provided.
the lounge chairs were teak and nicely cushioned. The best thing about the pools was the wonderful service by the pool staff. As soon as you sat down, the waiters would ask if you wanted a carafe of ice water with small plastic cups. the staff would refill the carafes when the ice melted. there was also food service by the pools, but I loved that the staff took care of you whether or not you wished to buy food and drink. I have never felt so pampered at a timeshare.
There was a nice shuttle that ran on demand to the hotel and to nearby shopping areas and the grocery store. It would be very easy to get by without a car and just enjoy the resort and the nearby restaurants and shopping.
The hotel pools included a large recreation pool with a nice lazy river and an adult only lap pool which I used 3 days. the Flowrider Attraction is also in the Hotel Pool area and was a great add on entertainment option. There is a $45 charge to use the Flowrider the first time. Any additional time booked on the Flowrider is $30/ hour. the $15 registration fee collected the first time is a one time registration fee. Once the registration is paid, there is only the hourly fee. My husband surfed pretty well the second day he tried the Flowrider. It was very fun for him.
The lap pool is adjacent to the beautiful spa which is marvelously soothing, albeit very expensive for services. There is a 30% discount for Starwood owners on Wednesday, but the prices are still very high. We went off property for our massage.
There is a gym also in the spa as well as one in the Villas lobby.
There is a lovely golf club between the Villas section and the hotel property. The driving range is very nice and in a pretty setting and is reasonably priced. the Golf Course is lovely, but the prices are steep.
At sunset every evening, a bagpiper plays on the hill behind the hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at this resort. I needed a relaxing week and I found it here at the Westin Kierland.

Green Features: I appreciated the recyling in room and all over the resort.

Arriving with my Grandson, we were greeted with the friendly valet guys. As my Grandson says, everyone is so nice in Arizona. Checking in, no problem , room seemed adequate, but door to patio was stuck and cigarette butts in a cup were still there. On to the Flowrider, so much fun and the young people working with the children were both knowledgable, patient and entertaining. Dining not special, but desserts in the lobby touch was a nice touch.
After leaving the Enchanted Resort in Sedona, this hotel seemed not quite as pleasurable. As for my Grandson, he loved it all.

We stayed here from April 26-30th. What a beautiful resort. The staff truly made the stay remarkable. Every staff member we encountered said hello or asked how we were right from the house keeping team to pool team. (Shout out to Chris who epitomizes the customer experience).

The room was great, we had a golf course view and a view of the nightly piper - how cool is that. The fire pit in evening is a great touch.

Only negatives - the internet charges to the room. The rooms are quite expensive and to add more charges is not right. Most lower end hotels from a cost wise perspective include the internet and a free breakfast. The pillows were quite large and very firm - my neck hurt.

We didn't eat at the restaurants because there are so many great ones a short walk away in the Commons.

My hubby and daugh had desert from the desert tray in the lobby and really enjoyed them. My daughter had a severe allergic reaction within about 30 minutes of eating the cake. She's never had one before ( we don't know if it was something in the cake, the hotel made sure we got the ingredients from the chef and nothing seemed out of the norm).

I have to say how very impressed we were the security team during this 'event'. We called the front desk and within a very short time Simon Asimakopoulos arrived at our door with benedryl. He then waitied to ensure that they were having a positive effect and assured us that an ambulance would be called immediately if required. Thankfully the pills started to work quite quickly and she didn't loose her breath. Another member of the team arrived at the door with hydrocortizone anti itch cream. Lucas called the next day to enquire about how she was doing. She was doing great and we spent the day at the pool. Thank you all for your wonderful care and concern.

We've already seen our family doctor and have epi pens in case - and are awaiting an allergist testing appointment.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor facing the golf course. Can't beat the view.

After having a unsettling experience a few years ago we decided to try this location again and to partake of their facilities. Their location is like a garden oasis. The interior of this building has not changed, the amenities are the same as we remember them and they strive to keep the appearance upgraded. Their restaurants are impeccable along with their pools (both adult and family). The golf facilities are adjacent to the property allowing for challenging and frustrating play.

Room Tip: Try using the rear of the hotel away from the outdoor lounge area. Also higher up on the floors.
