Stayed at the Westin Kierland with my family while spouse was at an off-property conference in late fall. Overall the resort was well maintained and the grounds were beautiful. The room was sufficient, standard Westin style. Staff was attentive, but was a little slow with some room requests we had. Parking is plentiful, but if you want to self park, there is a little a bit of walk required to get your car. During our stay, the valet area seemed understaffed so it was still quicker for us to just grab the car ourselves.

The lobby has a great open feel looking over the golf course. Just outside the lobby is an outdoor fire pit area which was nice to gather in the evening and socialize with other guests. Pool area was a big hit with the little one. They had a splash pad and zero entry pool which worked well for the smaller kids, but the large pool and Flowrider surf attraction was a favorite for the adults. If you have a family with kids who like swimming, they’ll enjoy themselves at the pools.

Property is located next to Kierland Commons which is loaded with shops and restaurants. We walked over every day for either a meal or ice-cream. Had a great dinner one night there at The Green House.

This is a very nice Westin resort. I stayed 3 nights in room 4004 but found the night parties on the rear patio extremely annoying. I was on EST time and as such was bedding down by 9 p.m. MST most nights. The noise from this use of outdoor space was understandable but clearly more than I preferred.

Food at the resort was very good and far better than typical. Hotel rooms are very well furnished and beds, linens etc. are very comfortable.

Room Tip: See note above regarding rear facing rooms.

My wife and I stayed at the Westin Kierland resort hotel in Scottsdale for the first time from 1/24-1/28/2013. The Westin offered us a special deal to try their resort. Our room was not that impressive (#5008). The room was clean and spacious. The king bed was comfortable. However the view overlooked the roof of the attached convention center and the balcony was too small to be useful. In the future, I would specify a golf course view room. The room was also situated quite far from the only bank of elevators. The bathroom was large with a nice glass-enclosed shower. We did not opt to get the snack fridge key. Other items left in the room for purchase were a sleeve of Nike logo golf balls for $12, a logo corkscrew for $9, and a half bottle of red wine for $24, no thanks. The only complimentary item was one bottle of water for the entire stay. We did have our own fridge to store snacks. Maid service was good. The hotel was well kept up and many concierges to help with plans. The bar and restaurants were pricey such as a margarita for $12 and a Cosmopolitan for $12. We had Brunch at Nellie Cashman's for $22 each. The food was ok. Given many other restaurants in the area, we opted to eat elsewhere for good food and less money. Some of our favorites are Veneto Trattoria and Pasta Brioni. Parking was an issue with the self parking quite a walk from our room. You might opt for Valet parking, but this was $21.95 a night. Nearby shopping was Kierland Commons with high end expensive stores. With room rates starting at about $315 a night, there are less expensive resorts with more convenient parking than the Westin.

Room Tip: Select a view room and something close to the elevators.

We loved this hotel. The spa is terrific and the grounds are beautiful. The pool area was very large and had a surfing area. The outdoor patios around the hotel were also great areas to sit and relax or have a drink. There was a nightly light/laser show that they projected onto the sides of the hotel that was amazing. Best of all was the close proximity to the great shopping and restaurants at Kierland Commons which was just across the street. I traveled along with my husband and some other couples but there did appear to be families there as well.

This hotel has everything you could wish for in service, location, and the basics. We went on a business trip but felt like we were on vacation..We had a beautiful view, a balcony, and a quiet room..spotless and comfortable. This Westin is more like a Four Seasons.

Room Tip: The special Westin mattress is a plus.

The staff at the Westin Kierland are amazing. They offer a shuttle service to easily get guests to/from all the great area venues. The shuttle drivers, Joe and Donnie, were very friendly and informative about the area. Most accommodating even in the rainy weather! They seemed to love what they were doing. Kimra, the concierge, was SO friendly. Even when my plans hit a snag, she seemed to see it as a great puzzle to solve and exceed my expectations...which she did. Derrick did a great job stepping in to take care of our reservations mix-up. The yoga teacher, whose name I missed, was excellent; a former physical therapist which made me feel that efforts were being made to keep me safe. The area where the hotel is located is delightful but the staff make this a great place to unwind.

Room Tip: The property is huge. If you have mobility concerns you might like to be closer to the lobby.

Overall, it's a very nice resort. Nothing over the top. The pool is good and the spa is nice but a little messy in the locker rooms. This is a 3.5 star resort but it's in a good location relative to area shopping and restaurants.

Room Tip: Try to stay in main building and make sure your room is not too far away from elevators. The hotel...
