We spent a long weekend at this resort in September and felt like we were in the hills in Scotland. This is a first rate hotel located at the foot of three golf courses with a lake and rolling hills outside our bedroom window. We are at three restaurants on site which is not something we usually do. Great meals, great pool area, great rooms and great staff made this a great weekend. We are already planning to come back again.....and did I mention the bagpiper on the golf course each day at sunset--ambiance extrordinaire!

I staid in this hotel for a corporate meeting. The hotel had a beautiful setting. For a large hotel it helt very intimate. I had a balcony off my room over looking the golf course. In the evening they have a Bag Pipe player walk the course and then on to the patio outside. The patio was large with several areas, but it felt as though you were sitting out on the patio at a friends home (large estate of course).

I can't speak to the other areas of the hotel, but I would definitely go back to this hotel to explore all it had to offer. My room was comfortable and clean. Complimentary water on the first night's stay was nice, and the bathroom with the double shower head was wonderful.

I would definitely stay here again!

Stayed at this property for two nights in October, 2012. Excellent hotel, villas and spa. From the moment you enter the grounds it is as if you are entering a dream; the palm trees make you want to stop, get out, take pictures even before you check in. The hotel offers so many amenities until you almost don't want to leave to check out other areas around the hotel.

There is a shopping plaza only a a few minutes away, probably a ten or 15 minute walk, however, if you don't feel like walking....the hotel provides a shuttle that runs during the stores opening hours. Believe me, there is so much to do in and around the hotel until two days might not be enough, I know it wasn't enough for me...going back in February 2013 for at least 5 day.

Room Tip: Don't miss the delicious brunch and try some cup cakes from cup cake stores in the mall area.

Great Hotel with a buzz in a location a taxi ride away from all the golf courses other than the local course. Our hotel room overlooked the kierland golf course with a view of the distant lights of scottsdale. The room itself was spacious as was the bathroom/shower. Breakfast was excellent a carvery type, with a top class choices with chef on hand to cook your choice of pancake etc.. The staff were very polite and courteous. The hotel Taxi a lot more expensive than the discount taxi. Pity WiFi was at a cost. The thunder storms were mind blowing. I will come back again after I have played all the other golf courses in the world. ha ha.
On a totally different note. The one thing I find as a visitor to the US is the tipping. It is not my fault employees are not well paid. I dont see why I should have to supplement their pay by way of tips. It seems everyone expects tips and not just at this hotel but its everywhere. The way they would look at you if the tip is not enough. It can be frightening and daunting. This is no way to promote tourism to your country. Pay your staff enough and get rid of tipping.

Room Tip: Be prepared to take taxi's to and from here to golf courses and downtown Scottsdale. Book the...

Got to stay at The Westin Keirland Resort for one night with some friends in December 2011. It was a quick trip but fabulous. The property is very nice! We checked in late in the evening. The room was nice - just a regular 2 queen bed room. The night view from the room was nice, seeing the sprawling Scottsdale lights twinkling away.
Walked around and found fireplaces to sit by and chat into the night. It was as though we had our own corner....while there were many guests at the hotel, the property is huge and does not feel like everybody has to be on top of each other.
Since we left the next morning, we didn't use the pools or see the golf course.
Maybe it'd be nice to visit in the summer and stay 2 days so we can experience the resort to its fullest. One day:)

Stayed here in July with wife and 2 teenage daughters. We stayed for 6 nights and had a great time in the pool and the lazy river every day. Enjoyed the very hot weather most unlike the Uk and comparible with the Greek islands in the height of the summer. we just stayed under an umbrella from about one to three, when it was at it's hottest. A big thank you to Catherine at the concierge desk for her advice on what to do and enjoy whilst around the area and especially for recommending Cave creek outfitters for my daughters and wife to horse ride around the area. We also enjoyed a trip to watch the baseball in the air conditioned stadium. The resort is kept immaculately clean by all the staff, rooms, restaurants and gardens. The resort is close to both Kierland commans and Scottsdale quarter for upmarket shopping and good food choices we generally took the free shuttle to these and then walked back having eaten great food. Wish we could return soon!

Room Tip: Ask for Catherine at the concierge desk for advice on activities to do around the area

The Kierland is a very impressive hotel, although the valet staff were a little over-zealous when we first arrived, moving us to several different spaces and taking our car keys when we only wanted to find out if we were able to check in.

The room was very spacious and clean and the white tea aloe toiletries were lovely. We arrived on a Thursday and headed straight for the pool. We were disappointed that the lazy river was closed but there were plenty of sun beds and the pool was very welcoming after a 300 mile drive. We went to the pool the following day at about 4.45pm and the lazy river was open - but only long enough for my husband to do one circuit before it closed again. We did not visit the adult-only pool.

We had dinner the first night at the Nellie Cashman Monday Club. The food was good and reasonably priced but we found it a bit over the top that all the staff addressed us by name. We also had breakfast there and we were pleased to find this was included in our room price - normally $22 for the buffet. The selection of food was excellent, including fresh berries and omelettes made to order but, as we have found with many hotels, the toaster was extremely slow.

When reading information about the hotel, it appeared that the resort fee of $25 per room per night was compulsory. However, when I tried to log on to the Internet in the room via wi-fi it came up with a list of charges which I thought were part of the resort fee. After checking with the front desk, I found that the resort fee was optional. As the only service I required was the Internet, it was cheaper for me to just pay for that - $6.95 plus tax ($7.60) for four hours. What did disappoint me is that a big, high quality hotel chain such as Westin had to penny-pinch for the wi-fi service at all! It was provided free of charge at most of the 14 hotels we have stayed in during our visits to the USA this year.

The Kierlands Common shopping centre was just a short walk away from the hotel which had a good selection of shops and restaurants.

We did enjoy our three night stay at the Kierland and loved the Scottsdale area. We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back this way.
