Have previously enjoyed and positively reviewed R&W Bistro, but a recent visit left us cold. Maybe because it was a Monday night? Hubby had his favorite dish: Signature Hard Rockin' Shrimp. He found it WAY overly spicy and drowning in garlic. The piece of bread served with it was charred. I tried the Flight of Sliders. Big mistake. The burgers were dry and flavorless, with absolutely no sauce in sight except for a small container of ketchup. There was a SINGLE tiny pickle slice and a SINGLE cherry tomato slice on the platter (that's right, not a whole cherry tomato, just a slice of one.) The buns were dry. These sliders could be acceptable, if only the chef would come up with some sort of imaginative sauce to mitigate the overall dryness. The heap of sweet potato fries mixed with shoestring fries (read soggy toothpick fries) was way, way over-salted and nearly inedible. We may try and give R&W Bistro another try, as we do like the ambience and location, and have previously enjoyed food there. Again, maybe this was just an off night, but I hope the owner/manager will be more vigilant as to what's coming out of the kitchen in future.
Other issues: no one came to refill our water glasses until we were finished eating, and with the super-saltiness/spiciness we could sure have used more water. Also, they used to offer at least one Arizona wine on the wine list, but have eliminated it. I frequently ask about Arizona wines when dining in the Valley, and would love to support local products. It's something I wish more local restaurateurs would consider.

The first thing you notice when you go inside is that the ambience is really cool – upscale feeling but sprinkled with humor. Upside down table lamps act as chandeliers – how fun is that???!! And the name of many menu items is a great pairing of humor and song/artist, too. Great posters & artwork grace the walls; the wall colors are soothing. And, if a restaurant has “wine” in their name, you should expect to see their stash. Rhythm and Wine has a large glass wall displaying theirs. Nice.

They have a very nice patio area, with heaters if its a bit cool, or if you are seated by a window inside, you'll have a great view of the sunset. We were seated just before happy hour ended but our server squeaked in our order so we were able to have one glass of wine at happy hour prices ($3 off). Speaking of wine, they have an extensive list, but also have a full bar if wine isn’t your choice of an adult beverage.

We split the “We go the Beet” salad – it was huge! More than two could eat. The Chimichurri Marinated Flat Iron steak was sooo good and very flavorful. The chimichurri gave it a spice kick; it was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The Courtney Loves this Chicken pasta. arrived in one of those neat slanted bowls. Again, pasta cooked perfectly and plenty of chicken that you didn’t feel cheated.

Definitely check this place out!

Rhythm and Wine Bistro had so many great appetizers that I order 3 of them (to share) for dinner. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. We had the Super Tuscan Bruschetta, Bordeaux Baked Brie, and Hollys Hummus Platter. The portions were large and the food was excellent. I can't wait to go back.

Had French onion dumplings app, plenty for 2 to share. Needs bread on the side to spread "overage" of melted cheese-pretzel bread or crusty French suggested! Very original idea.
Even more so-Brussels sprout salad. I am officially addicted. Service a bit slow, especially when waiting for check. Eat here with friends- you'll reap complements for your choice.

Visiting my firends who winter in Scottsdale. This is one of their favorite places to eat.
Good food. Great service. Good margaritas.
