“A great little museum.”
Reviewed April 4, 2014

This is a Great little museum with cars with real racing history. They are beautiful to look at and the price is right - FREE. But you can't take pictures of the Marlboro cars because the Federal Governments considers it advertising - can you believe it?

“Great place for motorsport fans and it's free!”

Lots of cars and a wonderful space for car nuts! Follow the career of Roger Penske both as a driver and a team owner - Indy cars galour! Then after this great little museum you can even browse the showrooms for the latest super cars - Lambourginis, Porsches, Ferarris, Jags etc. or get your cheque book out and buy a secondhand one!

Great small free car museum if you are into car racing. Lots of cool cars and memorabilia. Added bonus being attached to every high line car dealership imaginable.

“A complete shock!”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

I had a Sunday to myself in Phoenix and stumbled on the Penske Museum when surfing the internet. I was near-by so I thought it worth a couple minutes to check it out--and I am glad that I did!

It took a bit to find the actual museum. Signage is pretty weak. You end up at the front door of a pretty swanky auto dealer. Could I be in the right place? Bentley's, Rolls, Aston Martin's, Lamborghini's, Ferrari's as far as you can see. I walked into the Bentley portion of dealership to ask where to find the museum. A salesman kindly offered me directions. The museum is in one of the 'showrooms' of the dealership. Not a surprise since these are all Penske dealerships.

Walking in I didn't know what to expect. What I discovered was that this must be one of the most significant museums in the world when measured in terms of influence per square foot. Not much larger than a typical large auto dealership showroom, this place is packed with beautiful race cars. I lost count, but believe that there were over 10 individual Indy 500 race cars displayed.

Photos are allowed, but with one caution.... I was told that photos of the orange cars (those which are co sponsored by Marlboro) are not allowed due to some licensing agreement-- or more appropriately disagreement! Other than that though, I was free take all of the pictures I wanted.

The museum is well worth it..... But I couldn't help walking throughout he dealership parking lot afterwords to spy into all of the cars mentioned above. That was almost a thrilling as the museum!
