We were very impressed with Tommy V's. Since everyone in my party ordered almost the same things, I can't give a fair review of the menu as a whole. I had the manila clams and linguini, and it was just what I hoped for. The menu promised flavors of garlic, lemon, and wine, and that's what I got. Pasta cooked al dente. Only defect: Not nearly enough clams. Pear salad was very good, and so was the butternut squash soup. I thought the service was excellent. The waiter was there whenever he was needed. He recommended a good glass of wine, and contrary to what often happens, he recommended an inexpensive glass that was exactly what I was looking for, and did not push something more expensive. In any case, the mini-carafe of wine was enough for almost two classes, so the wine was a true bargain.
We ate outdoors, which is what many people chose to do on a warm evening. One defect is that there is not nearly enough light. Just a little ambient light would have helped, or bigger candles. The indoor space looked very attractive. We were comped one dessert, and it was very tasty. I would recommend saving room for dessert, as all of the choices were tempting.
The location is smack in the middle of Old Town, and parking is a problem: even though they have their own lot, it fills up early. But most of the hotels are within a mile, if you wanted to walk.
