“Mint NYE Overcrowded, Freezing Patio”
Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

After a dissppointing NYE at hotel W, went to mint with a group of people. So many people crushed inside, had to wait in a nightmare line for the bathroom. What I could see of the club were green neon lights overhead, sticky floor. While in line, some guy pushed his way through causing bottleneck. Several people jammed in the doorway. Squeezed through and saw inside were communal sinks, actual stalls were in a small hall. More standing in line. Bathroom stalls have doors that reach the floor. Nobody was cleaning the bathroom, didnt see any attendants. Sink area filled with people, water splashing everywhere. At least they didnt run out paper towels. After bathroom, headed out and sat in chilly outdoor patio, again fighting for space heater. Middle aged married guy hit on me all night, followed by a few drunk losers. Beyond tacky. After half hour or so of this nonsense, waited outside in freezing cold forever waiting for a cab. Feet numb, drunks falling down and the bright flash of cop lights across the street. Shared cab with a few rambunctious drunks and finally made it to valet garage where I couldnt drive away fast enough.

“Too hip to be this average”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

The Mint is hip and trendy and has food that excites the mind if not the mouth. I sampled the firecracker shrimp, truffled edamame, and Korean pork sliders. The firecracker shrimp will wake you up then cool you down with its burnin-sweep mix. I loved how little the shrimp were, but how many they gave. The Korean sliders could have had a little more kick of something, pretty bland for such a swingin place. While the edamame were lightly covered with a tasty sauce they are more for snacking than wooing. I heard the nightlife here will pick you up put the happy hour hour was less attended and had more of a chill atmosphere. The service was slow and absent and the drinks were pricey and watered down but if you want a hip, trendy Scottsdale spot for fair food, average drinks and weak service the Mint may be your place.

“Unfortunately, pretty bad.....”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

This is the second time I have been to The Mint. The first time was for an early evening birthday party, and we ordered only appetizers and drinks, which were actually quite good. That was a year ago. Fast forward to present.
First of all, you should know that the restaurant is very cool inside. It has booths in the middle of the room, couches on the sides for drinks, and a great indoor/outdoor bar and patio area, with a couple of large screen tv's if you are looking to watch sports. The hostesses are quite helpful and friendly, and knowledgeable. That is basically where anything good ends, so if that is all you are looking for, try this place.
Our waitress was not very knowledgeable about the menu, and knowing very little about a menu that is a little different to begin with is bad. The food was really, (I mean REALLY) mediocre at BEST. Our waitress must have come by the table 10 times to inquire of "you guys" (it was me and my girlfriend) if everything was okay? Well meaning, but come on. If we said things were okay 2 minutes prior, why wouldn't they be 2 minutes hence? I knew the bad food wasn't her fault, so didn't bother to tell her. Oh yea.....There is also mandatory $7 valet parking, since there is very little street parking, and the restaurant does not validate the parking ticket. Extremely cheesy, and cheap (how come City Hall does not charge for parking and they are always jammed? Hmmm, The Mint might want to take a cue from this idea, since they were practically empty).
I will never go back, it was a total wast of money.
